In early February, Google started enforcing a new requirement that they won't let companies like ours deliver emails to you unless we have verified some fairly complicated email settings. Ours were
all set by February 1, just as they asked.
However, this morning we found out that our emails weren't being delivered properly -- not from Homeschooling Torah, Foundations Press, or my own blog at AnneElliott.com.
In fact, over 150 people signed up to get a free download this morning, to help them teach the book of Genesis -- but our email provider wouldn't send out the e-book because Google rejected our email settings.
We have spent all day trying to diagnose and fix the problem. In the end, we made the decision to
install a verification "cookie" from Google on our site. Suddenly, everything started working again.
I feel pretty frustrated because I don't want Google's tracking code on our site.
But I also want you to receive our emails!
The fact is, we are all
being tracked by Google, Facebook, and others, everywhere we go online.
Either we "play the game," or I need to start sending you friendly letters by snail mail.
Maybe that's what will end up happening! It's something we're praying about.
Our friends at Messiah2030.com had their YouTube channel demonetized earlier this week, and others in the Torah movement are struggling with similar issues to ours, such as when we received two strikes on YouTube last year because I shared Homeschooling Torah's "vision, mission, and goal." (They said it was bullying and hate speech.)
