      What I’m Reading

      • Smart Change: Five Tools to Create New and Sustainable Habits in Yourself and Others  - by Art Markman, PhD.  This is the second of a trilogy of books I have been reading on understanding how our brains operate in a conscious and subconscious way to create automatic habitual patterns (refer Joe Dispenza's book from the last TSW issue).  Professor Markman does a great job in giving very practical advice in how to understand where our habits are coming from and how to reprogram our subconscious driven behaviors in order to break unwanted habits or create new ones.  He also points out (as does Dispenza), that many habits are good - we benefit every day by our subconscious executing all types of daily tasks and skills so that our brains conserve energy and we increase our efficiency.  Unfortunately, for bad habits, that automatic execution can be real hindrance to our physical and mental health.  Whereas Dispenza comes from a neuroscience / metaphysics standpoint, Markman explains this material from a more traditional psychology perspective that some readers may prefer.

      Picture of the Week
In between the massive amount of rain we've experienced over the last couple of weeks, we also got some beautiful days with giant puffy clouds.  They always make the world feel a little softer...
Have a great week, Stay Positive, and Let Your Thoughts Manifest all your Desires.
