Holistic Thinking to Optimize the Connections between the Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Aspects of our Lives
Newsletter - March 1st, 2015 - Volume 2, Issue 3
The Think Smarter World philosophy is about using Holistic Thinking to integrate and optimize the four major aspects of our lives - the Physical, Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual. These four areas are strengthened and expanded by understanding and implementing Interconnectedness through the tools of Systems Thinking, Proactive Access to Knowledge, Mind-Body Harmony, and Unity Consciousness.  When all four areas are in balance and well developed, we successfully reunite Heart and Mind and upgrade our lives to 'Human 2.0’ - a new level of human achievement, happiness, and good health

  • The world's first hotel staffed entirely by robots is set to open in Japan later this year, promoted with the slogan "a commitment for evolution”.  The Henn-na Hotel will open in the Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Nagasaki Prefecture in July with the hope that by employing "actroid androids" - robots that mimic humans - it will be able to significantly reduce costs.  10 robots will staff the 72-room hotel, capable of cleaning rooms, transporting luggage and greeting guests at the hotel's reception. Rooms will range in price from ¥7,000 (£39) to ¥14,000 (£77).

  • Why the modern world is bad for your brain - "In an era of email, text messages, Facebook and Twitter, we’re all required to do several things at once. But this constant multitasking is taking its toll. Here neuroscientist Daniel J Levitin explains how our addiction to technology is making us less efficient."

  • No Time to Think.  NY Times  - "In 11 experiments involving more than 700 people, the majority of participants reported that they found it unpleasant to be alone in a room with their thoughts for just 6 to 15 minutes.  It could be because human beings, when left alone, tend to dwell on what’s wrong in their lives. We have evolved to become problem solvers and meaning makers. What preys on our minds, when we aren’t updating our Facebook page or in spinning class, are the things we haven’t figured out — difficult relationships, personal and professional failures, money trouble, health concerns and so on. And until there is resolution, or at least some kind of understanding or acceptance, these thoughts reverberate in our heads. Hello rumination. Hello insomnia."

What I’m Reading
Every Word Has Power: Switch on Your Language and Turn on Your Life.  by Yvonne Oswald.  Yvonne is a Master NLP Practioner (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Psychotherapist.  Though the title of the book may appear a bit light weight, I assure the content and impact of this book is anything but.  If we had everyone in the world follow the the very constructive guidance that Yvonne provides, our planet would be experiencing a totally different level of reality.  At its core, the book shows in great detail how the power of our thoughts which are brought to life through our words, affect and create our reality on a moment to moment basis.

The book presents in detail how thoughts are constructed by our rational brain into images that our subconscious mind translates into instructions and memory patterns.  Whether we are in the realm of positive or negative thoughts and words, we are directing our subconscious to translate those into experiences for us.

“Your conscious mind likes to analyze and categorize, both for sake of efficiency and for protection, as it checks to find out if a pattern is to your benefit or not. However, the judgments that the conscious mind makes are only as good as the information retrieved from the storage unit of the unconscious mind, which may have filed away as many as 150,000 low energy commands or warnings from parents or other authority figures before you reached the age of seven.  These act as strong filters, which your unconscious mind puts into place for what it believes to be for your protection.

Your conscious mind often uses will power to make you act, but given that only 10% of your mind is conscious, will power alone is not enough to help you access the files, clear the filter, and succeed...So no matter how much you want to change, if the unconscious mind is replaying old videos, DVDs, or memories of when you did not succeed, your results may be inconsistent.  If your thoughts and actions are to be effective, your unconscious mind, where the imagination lies, has to be in harmony or agreement, with the conscious mind.

So how do you change the inner mind?  The easiest way is access and clear from the unconscious mind any outdated programming that it may hold in its storage files, replacing it with powerful new programming of clear intent and high motivation, so that the conscious and unconscious mind act in accord, forming a congruent understanding.

The more synchronization that takes place, the more quickly your desires become your reality as you access higher levels of consciousness.  You will also find that by clearing your thoughts and language you become a clearer and more powerful conduit for both yourself and others in your life.  You come to the realization that everything is possible."
Quotes of the Week
  • "The enemy of creativity...is fear.  We’re all born creative, it takes a little while to become afraid.  A surprising insight: an enemy of fear is creativity.  Acting in a creative way generates action, and action persuades the fear to lighten up.” - Seth Godin
  • "Any activity becomes creative when the doer cares about doing it right, or better....” - John Updike
  • “Consider that you can see less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum and hear less than 1% of the acoustic spectrum. As you read this, you are traveling at 220 km/sec across the galaxy. 90% of the cells in your body carry their own microbial DNA and are not “you.” The atoms in your body are 99.9999999999999999% empty space and none of them are the ones you were born with, but they all originated in the belly of a star. Human beings have 46 chromosomes, 2 less than the common potato. The existence of the rainbow depends on the conical photoreceptors in your eyes; to animals without cones, the rainbow does not exist. So you don’t just look at a rainbow, you create it. This is pretty amazing, especially considering that all the beautiful colors you see represent less than 1% of the electromagnetic spectrum.” “ - We Originated in the Belly of a Star, NASA Lunar Science Institute, 2012.
  • “So, according to the Buddha, the problem is suffering, the cause is ignorance, the remedy is waking up, and the path is living mindfully, meditating, and cultivating our wisdom.”  There is really only place all that happens:  in our minds.  “- Melvin McLeod
