The Multiples Effect: A Look into the
Intriguing Phenomenon of Synchronized Innovation - "This intriguing concept refers to the occurrence of multiple individuals independently arriving at the same groundbreaking idea or invention, often without any knowledge of each other’s work. The Multiples Effect serves as a testament to the interconnectedness of human thought and innovation, highlighting the mysterious ways in which ideas seem to
emerge simultaneously in different parts of the world." ~subtle.energy
(podcast) Rupert Sheldrake and Mark Vernon Discuss How Our Physical Reality is Quantum Fields - Einstein remarked that there was physics before Maxwell and physics after Maxwell, the difference being the introduction of modern field theory. So what difference did fields make and, more to the point, what are they? "
10 AI Terms Everyone Should Know - by Suzanna Ray at Microsoft
Excellent Introductory Video Series (brief and concise) on How to Use AI Chat Bots from Professor Ethan Mollick and his wife Lilach both at the Wharton School of Business (UPenn). Part One - Intro; Part Two - Large Language Models (LLM's); Part Three - Prompting AI; Part Four - AI for Teachers; Part Five - AI for Students.
Working with AI: Two paths to prompting - Don't overcomplicate things. By
Professor Ethan Mollick at The Wharton School of Business
(podcast) Can We
Govern AI? - "When it comes to AI, what kind of regulations might we need to address this rapidly developing new class of technologies? Our guest Marietje Schaake was at the forefront of crafting tech regulations for the EU. In spite of AI’s complexity, she argues there is a path forward for the U.S. and other governing bodies to rein in companies that continue to release these products into the
world without oversight." ~Your Undivided Attention podcast
(video) The AI Dilemna - "Tristan Harris and Aza Raskin at the Center for Humane Technology discuss how existing A.I. capabilities already pose catastrophic risks to a functional society. In particular, how A.I. companies are caught in a race to deploy as quickly as possible without adequate safety measures, and what it would
mean to upgrade our institutions to a post-A.I. world."
Artificial Intelligence and Natural Intelligence - Exploring the
Boundaries and Potential of Human and Machine Intelligence - Good overview of the differences from the AI for Social Good Blog.
The impact of artificial intelligence on human society and bioethics, by Michael Cheng‐Tek Tai - "Artificial intelligence (AI), known by some as the industrial revolution (IR) 4.0, is going to change not only the way we do things, how we relate to others, but also what we know about ourselves. This article will first examine what AI is, discuss its impact on
industrial, social, and economic changes on humankind in the 21st century, and then propose a set of principles for AI bioethics."
(Book Recommendation) - The Myth of Artificial Intelligence, Why Computers Can't Think the Way We Do, by Erik J. Larson - Computer Scientist and Tech Entrepreneur Erik Larson does an excellent job of describing how current machine learning models approach intelligence through deductive and inductive reasoning but so far fail at abductive reasoning - the type of thinking that humans excel at which can be described as instinct, intuition, and common sense. A must read for understanding the difference between current AI capabilities and the brilliance of humans.

Minotaur Mode - How AI Threatens to Undermine Rather than Extend Expertise, by Josh Brake, Professor of Engineering at Harvey Mudd College in Claremont, California
(podcast) Suspicion Machines - "We delve into the tangible problems emerging from the use of machine learning algorithms across Europe. We explore “suspicion machines” — systems that
assign scores to welfare program participants, estimating their likelihood of committing fraud. Join us as Justin and Gabriel share insights from their thorough investigation, which involved gaining access to one of these models and meticulously analyzing its behavior."
(podcast) The Road to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) - "Hannah meets DeepMind co-founder and chief scientist Shane Legg, the man who coined the phrase ‘artificial general intelligence’, and explores
how it might be built. Why does Shane think AGI is possible? When will it be realised? And what could it look like? Hannah also explores a simple theory of using trial and error to reach AGI and takes a deep dive into MuZero, an AI system which mastered complex board games from chess to Go, and is now generalising to solve a range of important tasks in the real world."
K-12 Schools, Colleges, Governments, and Companies Have Started to Adapt to the AI Reality in Education by identifying and addressing the risks (implementing guidelines and guardrails) and considering how to effectively use the positive attributes of AI. Here are a number
of articles and resources highlighting their current strategies:
Should We be Teaching Students how to be Manager's of Independent AI
Agents - "The trajectory of AI development already suggests an imminent shift from AI as a tool to AI as an autonomous agent — in short, AI as employee. Autonomous AI agents like Devin, developed by Cognition Labs as a "fully autonomous AI software engineer," represent this next phase. These agents are designed not merely to assist human developers but to take more
ownership of complex tasks, navigating through them with minimal human intervention and with access to a wider range of software."

(podcast) Banning Toxicity - Call of Duty Video Game to use AI based Speech Moderation Software to Police its Online Gaming Users - An interesting technology from AI company
Modulate that highlights the potential positives and negatives in AI tools. Good to have a safer less toxic environment free from hateful verbiage but also raises the very important concern of censorship,
who decides what to censor, and the spectre of 24 / 7 online AI Police Agents monitoring every word in every aspect of our lives as this type of technology finds its way into all sorts of applications. ~The Artificial Intelligence Podcast
