2) Highgate Cemetery's Clever Plan:
London’s Highgate Cemetery is a beautiful
burial ground, and if you’ve been reading my newsletter for a while, you may remember the video I did featuring some of the beautiful monuments I saw after my visit. (Here’s the link to my Highgate Video.)
However, like many cemeteries, Highgate is running out of room. Recently, they have come up with a new plan. I think it’s a great idea, a solution that could be used in historic burial grounds all over the world.
Nearly 500 new graves can be created if unmarked graves (as well as burial spots with clear ownership) are reused.
According to the article, “Gravediggers will carefully dig down until they reach the remains, make the grave lower and create space so new bodies can be laid to rest in tiers on the same spot.”
What do you think? Have you ever been to Highgate? Hit reply and let me know.
