My dear, , sometimes it is argued that Sanskrit scholarship is more important than bhakti, devotional service. To resolved this controversy the great devotee Prahlada Maharaja has stated as follows in Srimad Bhagavatam, Canto 7, Chapter 9, Text 49 as follows:
naite guṇā na guṇino mahad-ādayo ye
sarve manaḥ prabhṛtayaḥ sahadeva-martyāḥ
ādy-antavanta urugāya vidanti hi tvām
evaṁ vimṛśya sudhiyo viramanti śabdāt
"Neither the three modes of material nature [sattva-guṇa, rajo-guṇa and tamo-guṇa], nor the predominating deities
controlling these three modes, nor the five gross elements, nor the mind, nor the demigods nor the human beings can understand Your Lordship, for they are all subjected to birth and annihilation. Considering this, the spiritually advanced have taken to devotional service. Such wise men hardly bother with Vedic study. Instead, they engage themselves in practical devotional service."
So while we should become as learned as possible for authoritatively presenting the Vedic wisdom to those persons who have forgotten their eternal relationship with Krishna, the ultimate authorities on Vedic wisdom are those persons who have awakened their dormant love of Krishna that has been sleeping for thousands of lifetimes within their hearts.
