[Writers' Huddle] Summer Challenge week 5; Three years ago: Crafting great blog posts

Published: Mon, 08/21/17

Hello!

I was on holiday last week and got precisely no writing done ... but I did have a relaxing break (and spent plenty of time splashing around in the pool with my kids). :-) I hope you're having a great summer, whatever you're up to!

In today's email:

Three Years Ago: Crafting Great Blog Posts

Three years ago, we went back to fundamentals with a seminar on the basics of crafting great blog posts to build your blog around.

You can get the video, audio, slide pack, transcript and worksheet below:

The seminar covered:
  • Seven reasons to blog, even if you’ve never considered it before.
  • The three “E”s of blogging (your post needs to hit at least one of these).
  • How to structure your blog post for maximum success.
  • Why originality is overrated, and what you need instead.
You can discuss the seminar on the forums here:

Summer Challenge: Week Five
Congratulations to Sue, the Week Four prize winner.

If you forgot to check-in for Week Four, it's not too late to do so! You won't be in with a chance at the Week Four prize (obviously...) but you'll keep up your eligibility for the Grand Prize Draw at the end of the Challenge:

The fifth week of the Summer Challenge starts today!

Don't forget to pop over to the forums and "check in" before noon UK time next Monday (28th Aug) to let us know how you did ... that way, you'll be eligible for the Week Five prize.

It's not too late to join us (at this point, you won't be able to clock up enough check-ins to be eligible for the Grand Prize ... but you can still win weekly prizes). Find out all about the Challenge and join up here:

Chatroom: Thursday Chat 8PM - 9PM

Again this Thursday, we'll be having a writing hour from 8pm - 9pm (UK time) ... come and say hi at the start, tell us what you'll be working on, then write. :-) (Or research / edit / whatever's appropriate for your current project.)

The chatroom is at:

It's text only (and very minimalist). The chat runs from 8pm - 9pm UK time (3pm - 4pm EST) ... but you're very welcome to drop in and out.

(If you miss out on a chat but want to catch up, you can scroll back up in the chatroom to read what happened.)

Happy writing!
