Published: Mon, 08/28/17

Hello!

We're into the last week of the Summer Challenge. If you've been making great strides with your writing, now's your chance to finish strong! And if you've not had a good few weeks, or if it's been a bit up and down, one big push this week could make all the difference...

If you missed checking in for Week 5, don't forget to do that NOW to keep up your eligibility for the Grand Prize at the end (you need 5 out of 6 check-ins in total).

Five Years Ago: Building Your Author Platform

Five years ago, our seminar covered how to build your author platform, and even now, this is still one of the biggest online writing talking points.

You can get the audio, transcript and worksheet below:

The seminar covered:
  • What an author platform is, and why you need one
  • Three key ways to build an online platform: blogging, mailing lists, and social media
  • How to know what to write about on your blog … whatever type of writer you are
  • How to get started with a mailing list (and why it’s a useful addition to your platform)
  • How to use social media to grow your audience and your network
You can discuss the seminar on the forums here:

Summer Challenge: Final Week!
Congratulations to Sean, the Week Five prize winner.

If you forgot to check-in for Week Five, it's not too late to do so! You won't be in with a chance at the Week Five prize (obviously...) but you'll keep up your eligibility for the Grand Prize Draw at the end of the Challenge:

The sixth and last week of the Summer Challenge starts today!

Don't forget to pop over to the forums and "check in" before noon UK time next Monday (5th Sep) to let us know how you did ... that way, you'll be eligible for the Week Six prize.

Chatroom: Thursday Chat 8PM - 9PM

This Thursday will be our final writing hour from 8pm - 9pm (UK time) ... come and say hi at the start, tell us what you'll be working on, then write / research / edit until the time's up.

(Next week we'll be back to a discussion hour, as the Summer Challenge will be over.)

The chatroom is at:

It's text only (and very minimalist). The chat runs from 8pm - 9pm UK time (3pm - 4pm EST) ... but you're very welcome to drop in and out.

(If you miss out on a chat but want to catch up, you can scroll back up in the chatroom to read what happened.)

Happy writing!
