[Writers' Huddle] Transcript added: Seven simple tricks for becoming more creative as a writer

Published: Mon, 09/18/17

Hello!

I had a good writing retreat at a nearby hotel last weekend, adding 10,000 extra words to my novella's second draft (and enjoying a peaceful night's sleep without my children in the vicinity).

What's your top writing project this week ... and what will you be doing to make some time for it?

In today's email:

  - Transcript added: Seven simple tricks for becoming more creative as a writer
  - Chatroom: Thursday chat 8PM - 9PM

Transcript added: Seven Simple Tricks for Becoming More Creative as a Writer

A full transcript is now available for our latest seminar, focusing on getting your creativity and ideas flowing via prompts, constraints, real life and more.

You can get the transcript here, along with the audio and worksheet:

The seminar covered:
  • Enjoying writing rather than focusing on hard targets
  • Using prompts or constraints to direct your work
  • Drawing on real life or other works of art for inspiration
  • Making stock ideas more interesting with a fresh take
You can discuss the seminar on the forums here:

Chatroom: Thursday Chat 8PM - 9PM

This Thursday, we'll be talking about writing retreats. Whether you've been on dozens or you're just curious about the idea, we'll be discussing why you might want to try a retreat and what options there are.

The chatroom is text only (and very minimalist!). The chat runs from 8pm - 9pm UK time (3pm - 4pm EST) ... but you're very welcome to drop in and out.

Hope to see you there!

(If you miss out on a chat but want to catch up, you can scroll back up in the chatroom to read what happened. I clear the previous week's chat every Thursday.)

Happy writing!
