Winter Challenge, Week Two (5th-12th)

This is week two of the Winter Challenge -- the winners of the Amazon vouchers from week one are Dana and Nick.

If you still want to sign in for week one to keep up your eligibility for the Grand Prize, you can do so in the forum thread here:

You can find out more about the Challenge, and join us, here:

Chatroom Writing Hour, 8pm - 9pm Weds

Whether or not you're taking part in the six-week Winter Challenge, you're welcome to join us on Wednesday evening at 8pm (UK time) in the Chatroom -- we'll be chatting briefly about what we're going to work on, then we'll be writing until just before 9pm.

I'll try to remember to send out a reminder slightly earlier on Wednesday than I did last week...!

(Note: there won't be a chat on the following Wednesday, 14th.)

One Year Ago: Writing Multi-Genre and Cross-Genre Novels, with Alan Baxter

Last February, our seminar was on novels which span across the genres, with guest author Alan Baxter.

You can get the audio seminar here, along with the transcript and worksheet:

The seminar covers:
  • When in the planning process to start considering genre
  • How to structure a novel that doesn’t fit in an established category
  • The common advice that authors should stick in one genre
  • Bringing an audience with you across genres
  • How writing cross-genre books affects marketing
You can discuss the seminar on the forums here:

Happy writing!
