Winter Challenge 2018 Begins!

The 2018 Winter Challenge begins today - let us know your goals in the sign-up thread linked below. It lasts for six weeks and each week, there are two  $10 Amazon vouchers to win ... and there's a Grand Prize of a $50 voucher at the end of the course.

You can find out all about the Challenge, and join us, here:

If you're ready to sign in for this week, the first check in thread is already up:

Chatroom Writing Hour, 8pm - 9pm Weds

Whether or not you're taking part in the six-week Winter Challenge, you're welcome to join us on Wednesday evening at 8pm (UK time) in the Chatroom -- we'll be chatting briefly about what we're going to work on, then we'll be writing until just before 9pm.

I'll try to remember to send out a reminder on Wednesday, too!

Forum Posts to Check Out

There have been some great discussions in the Writers' Huddle forum over the past couple of weeks. Here are  a couple to check out, if you haven't already:

When do you read books?

I started this one as several people had mentioned "reading more" in their goals for the year. It's really interesting to see where and how different Huddlers fit reading into their day.

What are your goals for 2018?

If you haven't already joined us in setting writing goals for the year, pop on over to this forum topic. (If you've already set your goals, you might want to revisit this topic to see what everyone else is up to!)

Four Years Ago: Finding, Boosting and Keeping Your Motivation

Four years ago, our seminar was about keeping yourself motivated, and it also happened to be the introduction to that year's Winter Challenge.

You can get the audio seminar here, along with the transcript and worksheet:

The seminar covers:
  • The difference between intrinsic and extrinsic motivation
  • Straightforward ways to boost your motivation
  • How to stay motivated over the long haul
You can discuss the seminar on the forums here:

Happy writing!
