Published: Mon, 02/19/18

Hello!

A hasty newsletter today, as my husband's been ill, my kids have been on their half term break from school, and my working time has been severely curtailed...!

In this week's email:
- Winter Challenge 2018 Week Four
- No writing hour this week
- Forum posts to check out
- Three Years Ago: Structuring and Outlining Your Novel, with K.M. Weiland

Winter Challenge, Week Four (19th-26th)

We're now into week four of the Winter Challenge. The winners of the two $10 Amazon vouchers from week three are Alice and Sue. Congratulations, both!

If you still want to sign in for week three to keep up your eligibility for the Grand Prize draw (for a $50 Amazon voucher), reply to last week's forum topic here:

It's not too late to join us (though you won't now be eligible for the Grand Prize). You can find out more about the Challenge, and join in, here:

No Writing Hour This Week
I was hoping to run the writing hour on Thursday this week, but the way my week is shaping up, I'm cancelling it ... sorry, all!

If anyone does want to meet this week with others in the Chatroom, please do feel free to start a forum topic to arrange it. The Chatroom is available 24/7. :-)

Forum Posts to Check Out

Just a quick reminder to take a look at these posts in the forums, if you haven't already:

Seminar on project planning / yearly goals

I'll be talking to our guest speaker Phoenix about planning and goal-setting this Wednesday evening, so if you do have any last minute questions you'd like me to include in that, please post on this topic before then!

Seminar Requests for 2018

If there's a particular topic you'd like us to cover in 2018's seminars, let me know! And if someone else has suggested a topic or idea that you like, it's really helpful for me to know that you want a seminar on it, too.

January 2018 -- how are you getting on with your goals?

Whether your January has been good, bad or indifferent, come and let us know how it went for you (and find out what other Huddlers have been doing).

Three Years Ago: Structuring and Outlining Your Novel, with K.M. Weiland

Three years ago, author and blogger K.M. Weiland joined us to talk about setting out a basic structure for your novel, all the better to begin your year's writing.

You can get the audio seminar here, along with the transcript and worksheet:

The seminar covers:
  • Why structure matters, whether you’re a “plotter” or a “pantser” when it comes to writing
  • The ten key structural moments of a novel, and how far through your story they should each occur
  • The difference between outlining and structuring, and the different types of outline you might write
  • Common mistakes that writers (even published ones) make when it comes to structure
You can discuss the seminar on the forums here:

Happy writing!
