"I think that because this is a moral universe, then right will prevail, goodness will prevail, compassion will prevail, laughter will prevail, love, caring, sharing will prevail. Because we are made for goodness. We are made for love." ~Desmond Tutu
About this tree...If you have any experience with yoga, you probably know the Sun Salutation. In case you're not familiar with it, the Sun Salutation is a graceful flow of movements through 12 yoga postures that leads to an arm-raising, back-arching stretch that feels wonderful.
If you are familiar with yoga, when you look at this gracefully bent tree, with outstretched limbs, with just a little imagination, do you see it?
Funny thing, I noticed this after preparing yesterday's touchstone, which included a longer version of the quote I placed next to this arching tree. Marianne Williamson said, "No matter what is happening now, events will ultimately bend toward love the way a flower bends toward sunlight."
She's said it beautifully. Others have too, including Desmond Tutu . Many think it's true, believe it's true, and hope it's true that goodness and love will prevail. I'm among them. And I want to have this reinforced in me. Sometimes I really need to have it strengthened. Surely I'm not the only one. How about you?
Along with flowers facing the sun, we can use symbols, like this yoga-practicing tree, to inspire us to reach for and practice love every day. Maybe practice yoga too. Let's at least stretch every day. Our muscles. Our minds. Our loving. And let's hold hope that events will turn toward love and that goodness will prevail.
With hope and faith,
Charlene
