Well it's not really a surprise. The media would rather cover stuff about Hillary's email crimes and Trump's womanizing. Well I'm sure glad this election is over but I'm not writing to comment on any of that...

But this issue is potentially more important than any of the issues used to distract the public. Have you heard of 5G wireless technology?

Locally I've been involved in various aspects of activism against some of the problematic aspects of the proliferation of wireless technology. Years back I helped a buddy who was spearheading an effort to fight against AT&T regarding a large mobile phone tower which would have been very close to his home. Their grassroots effort was quite successful and they beat AT&T not once but twice! This proves the good fight can be won.

Now what's going on is an effort to usher in a new generation of wireless technology which many argue is not necessary. Yes I'm talking about 5G wireless technology.

Why should you be concerned?

Actually there are a lot of reasons and the video on this page sums it up quite well

Firstly even 4G wireless technology has had a huge impact on wildlife including but not limited to bird habitats. Birds and insects have very sensitive navigational systems which utilize electromagnetics. One example of the effects that 4G has had is on the bird population (nevermind the honey bees because that's another story altogether!). We have a local geologist here who was part of our effort to stop SmartMeters from our local utility who has been logging the drop in bird populations after 4G towers were installed in the areas outside of town.

Another reason you should be concerned is security. Your personal information is at risk already with the rise of wireless infrastructure and it will only get worse with 5G.

Worse even is the health risks. You'll see in this video that the chairman of the FCC is trying to rush 5G through with ZERO safety testing. We've been through this one before and wireless technology safety is clearly a mess due to the fact that mobile phones weren't ever pre-market tested for safety. They fell between the cracks of the various agencies that one would think would have tested them. FCC only considers the danger from heat associated so if it doesn't cook you immediately don't expect them to save you. FDA doesn't safety test hardware so don't expect them to save you.

This 5G issue seems like it's being handled a lot like the Telecommunications Act of 1996 which had a clause buried deep inside many hundreds of pages which indicated that issues of health concerns could not be used to stop a tower from being installed anywhere. The industry has taken full advantage of this clause that was put in from heavy lobbying efforts by the Wireless industry. They're trying to rush 5G technology before any testing and we are talking about a totally new range of frequencies that haven't ever been used in communications before.
