From Concept to Community
Back in 2017, while hosting yoga events as a side gig, Jim stumbled on a surprising therapeutic technique–hangin’ out with goats. Inspired by a concept called “goat happy hour,” he decided to integrate goats into one of his yoga classes in Boulder, CO. The response was overwhelming.
“I sold out all the tickets overnight,” Jim said. In fact, the demand was so high he accidentally exceeded the venue’s capacity by double. “Instead of telling half the people, hey, we don’t have room for you, we decided to move to a different outdoor grassy location, which ended up being a better space.”
RMGY has since served over 100,000 people through hundreds of public and private events, therapy sessions, and more.
RMGY hosts a variety of fun events like “Goatflix and Chill” movie nights, “Beer 30 Goat Yoga” at local breweries, and themed yoga sessions like “Barbie Goat Yoga.” These creative concepts attract
various audiences and highlight the goats’ therapeutic benefits, fostering a sense of joy and mindfulness.
A Mission Rooted in Compassion, Animal Advocacy, and Education
What started as a unique yoga experience quickly evolved into a mission-driven enterprise: highlight the therapeutic potential of these incredible
animals, shifting perceptions of goats from just farm animals to unique creatures that enjoy interacting with people, inspiring you to live in the moment and experience joy.
Jim’s dedication to goat welfare is a cornerstone of RMGY. He educates employees and participants about the goats' needs and ensures their comfort and safety during events.
This compassionate approach has led to the rescue and rehabilitation of numerous goats, creating an environment where they thrive and human participants experience moments of joy and introspection.
Jim’s commitment to community service is evident
in his work with memory care centers, special needs groups, and various other communities. After the success of RMGY, Jim established Goat Walkabouts, a nonprofit that uses therapeutic walks with Nigerian dwarf goats to promote mental wellness and healing.
“These animals actually do make you feel better, make you feel more present, and cause you to be in the
moment,” Jim said.
Getting the Word Out
Email marketing plays a vital part for RMGY and Goat Walkabouts. Using AWeber, Jim is able to segment his audience based on specific interests, ensuring relevant, targeted content in every send.
This strategy has grown event attendance and engagement,
allowing Jim to connect with his community in more meaningful ways.
"AWeber’s tools have been invaluable," says Jim. "From segmenting demographics to creating
visually appealing emails, it's helped us reach and engage our audience effectively."
