Hi
This month, we explored strategies to help you mentally disconnect from work.
Mental disconnection from work means the ability to ‘switch off’ when you're not supposed to be working. We explored why it’s so important and how it can negatively affect us (and our weekends!) when we don’t fully unplug. I also shared practical strategies, practices, and lifestyle changes that can help you create a healthier relationship between work, your wellbeing and your life outside of work.

Mentally disconnecting from work
In our fast-paced world
of modern work, the boundary between professional and personal life often blurs, leaving many hardworking people struggling with being unable to mentally disconnect from work. The relentless demands of emails, deadlines, and constant connectivity can lead to burnout, stress, and a less-than-adequate quality of life …Read the full post

Q&A: How can I shake off the Sunday blues & fully enjoy my weekend?
This month’s question comes from Nicola: Hi Kate, I have trouble fully disconnecting from work over the weekends. While I enjoy the relief on Friday afternoons and I can fully relax on Saturday, the looming pressure of Monday often creeps in on Sundays. As a result, I feel like I’m only truly enjoying Saturdays. Any advice on how to switch off from work completely, so I can make the most of the entire weekend?...Read my answer here

Worth Sharing This Month
In my most recent blog
post, I shared three popular meditation and mindfulness apps aimed at helping you detach from work stress. Today, I'm excited to highlight yet another resource that's both excellent and completely free.
This is a simple 5-minute
body scan meditation that you do lying down. It’ll help you release stress and anxiety while practising dropping out of the mind and into the body so that you can fully disconnect from the day's stressors. Body scan meditations are particularly effective in helping people shift their focus completely to the present moment.
I highly recommend using this as a ritual practice to signify the end of your work day, which is
something I talked about in more detail last week. If you're working from home, shut down your computer and then find a quiet calm place in your house with low lighting. Or if you work in an office, do this as soon as you get home. You can also use this meditation before bed or as a reset during your day when
you are feeling the need to rejuvenate your energy.
Try the meditation here and I challenge you not to feel calm and fully disconnected after doing so!
The instructor, Loren Runion, has a fantastic YouTube channel with so many wonderful yoga nidra and mindfulness meditations for nervous system support. Check out her channel here.
