Hello again , I hope all is well with you and yours? Today I'll give another example of what we might do in business coaching; please note, this is not about legal or financial issues, as you need specialists
in those areas, and that's not coaching. Rather it's about your thoughts, plans, actions, challenges and vision around your own situation. You can see more detail in my small business package here. You may have come across this exercise before; it is very flexible and can be used personally, in your work setting or for your organisation as a whole. It's an acronym, standing for Strengths,
Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats. When you work individually with me, there are further aspects to the exercise. To whet your appetite,
here is how we start off. - Strengths - What are you good at? What is easy for you? What do others always ask you about?
- Weaknesses - What do you avoid? What could you do better?
- Opportunities - What trends can you take advantage of? Eg new technology, remote working.
- Threats - What is your competition up to? What problems can you foresee?
We hear a lot about the benefits of focus, getting down to it and just ploughing through your to do list with grit and determination. And there is a lot to be said for this, in its place. Yet letting our minds just rest, wander and go where they like is good for our well-being, and maybe we don't do this as often as would be good for us. This intriguing study reported by the BPS suggests that this could be due to our belief that mind-wandering might be boring, a waste of time, and we won't really enjoy it - yet it showed that people 'felt more enjoyment, engagement and interest in waiting, and less boredom, than they had predicted'. So when I've finished this bit of writing,
that's just what I'm going to do!
Are things falling apart for you?

It's easy to feel worried and a bit despondent when we look at the news these days, what with Ukraine, enormous energy prices, bereavements, untrustworthy governments - yet there is a way
through. This book, that I'm recommending today, is one of my favourites. It's called 'When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times' and it's all
about compassionate living and 'how we can use painful emotions to cultivate wisdom, compassion and courage'. The author is Pema Chodron, a Tibetan Buddhist nun whose work is accessible to all, of whatever spiritual tradition, or none, that they are in.

- You may recall that I am licensed to use Harrison Assessments, which I described in one of my March issues. (Click the image for my credential.) The assessment consists of a short 'smart' questionnaire which
indicates your traits, such as Optimistic, Authoritative, Influencing, and about 170 others. On this is based dozens of possible reports across the whole HR area, from recruitment to succession planning and more. Coaching is then based on this information. It's a very powerful system which I love using, and the good news is that I shall now be able to offer this at a considerably
reduced price. It's especially good for career planning - just contact me for more details.
- Although it's actually, finally, raining here in the UK this week, climate change continues to get more and more urgent, and I cannot stress this enough. So I'm still doing my best to spread the
word about this. If you haven't already, do please consider joining my free updated list, as well as checking out my climate coaching packages in my Shop.
- I'm creating downloadable exercises and worksheets on my website here, to give you a taste of what you might get when you work with me. The first one is there now and it's about working out your values and what needs to be in place for you to honour them. The next one will be about where to start, when you know something's got to change! Meanwhile if you think
of something else you'd like, for issues that face you right now, let me know and I'll prioritise it.
- If you're thinking of working personally with me, I always recommend that we first have a free intro call (updated link) to make sure coaching is right for you before we start.
If I don't think it is, I'll say so and try to signpost you to what else would be helpful. I'm limiting my one to one work at the moment due to a family illness but I do still have space for two or three clients over the next month.
- You
can see all my coaching packages and e-books on this link here to my shop, and you can check my availability on the (updated) button below. And if you can't see a suitable time, contact me anyway and I'll do my best to find one for you.
I've updated my Linktree, about everything that I'm involved in, on the first button below. Also the three free quizzes, that
help you to pinpoint where you can best make changes in your situation. You can repeat them for free whenever you like to see your progress over time. Thanks for your time, - have a good weekend, keep safe, and I'll be in touch again in a couple of weeks, All best wishes, Barbara P.S. if you like this update and you got it elsewhere, you can get your own personal regular copy by subscribing safely here.
