It's What's Up Wednesday!

It’s strawberry season! And according to my local U-pick fruit farm, it’s a great year for strawberries. I spent the better part of Tuesday evening making up a batch of lemon pepper strawberry jam and a batch of classic strawberry jam.

I remember a summer when my Grandma Besemer made wild strawberry jam with the tiny little wild strawberries we had picked in her backyard. It was some of the best strawberry jam I have ever tasted. 

Of course, it was a relatively small batch, but it sure was good.

Grandma made many more jars of strawberry jam over the years, and I learned how to make jam the old-fashioned way at her side, without storebought pectin. In the couple of decades I’ve been making jam, I’ve done my fair share of experimenting with flavors, and I’m sure Grandma would have loved them.

Let’s celebrate the fleeting strawberry season with all things strawberry this Wednesday.
