Are We Doomed?

Published: Thu, 02/24/22

Even though Tim and I like to stick with what history and old traditions have taught us, we still understand and accept the urgent need for adaptation.  After all, Ayurveda is a living science!

This is why time has come to pay special attention to Pluto, the youngest planetary body around.  Pluto was officially discovered in 1930 and yes, we know, Pluto was "demoted" in 2006.  However, whether you choose to call Pluto a planet or not, it does not change the influence he has on Earth.

Pluto got his very well suited name after the Ancient Greek God of the underworld, Plutonas, aka Hades.  Pluto is the furthest planet in the solar system, takes approximately 248 years to complete one orbit and it has the most elliptical and tilted orbit of any planet.  Pluto was not accounted for in ancient astrology, most likely due to his very slow and remote orbit.  That very same orbit however, makes Pluto extremely relevant to us today.

How so, you ask. Great question, I am so glad you asked. :-)

Just like individuals experience "planetary returns", so do countries.  A "planetary return" is when a celestial body makes a complete orbit around the sky to return to the place they were when the individual (or the country for that matter) were born.  The "return of the Sun" for example takes about 1 year (aka birthday :-) ), the "return of the Moon" takes about 28 days, the dreaded "Saturn return" takes about 27 years, the "Jupiter return" takes about 12 years, just to name a few.  As you can probably guess, an individual will never experience a "Pluto return", but a country will (well, hopefully).

Why is a "planetary return" of any significance?  A "planetary return" is an opportunity for the individual or the country to learn from the past.  Been there, done that.

United States of America was born on July 4th, 1776 in Philadelphia, PA.  A newly established country deserves a newly established planet, wouldn't you say? :-)  United States of America is currently experiencing a "Pluto return".  Pluto is at the same spot today in America's chart as he was back on July 4th, 1776 in Philadelphia, PA.

Following America's chart, we find Pluto located in Capricorn, the open field, full of all the much needed resources.  Capricorn is the sign of hard work, determination and adherence to principles.  Capricorn is an earth - cardinal sign, representing all sorts of activities in a seemingly still manner, in an "underground" kind of way.

Pluto in Capricorn signals a complete and total restructuring and reorganization of everything we've known in our day to day life, in terms of work and resources, from earning a living, to the world's banking system, to the stock market.  Pluto in Capricorn wants us to reevaluate our existing perceptions of activities, work, work ethics, and money habits while avoiding the increasingly frequent frauds and dysfunctions at all levels.

We also find Pluto in the second house, the house of money, material possessions and food.  This one is a bit tricky.  It may signify scarcity, it may signify pollution and fraud.  You never know with Pluto.  Either way, he wants us to not be taking for granted anything we have been accustomed to thus far.

What Tim and I believe can also help better understand America's Pluto return is to recall a little bit of the mythology behind God Pluto.

Pluto has five moons, each one named based on ancient Greek mythology: Charon, Styx, Nix, Kerberos, and Hydra.

Charon is the largest of Pluto's moons.  He used to ferry the souls of the dead across the river Styx, the river that separates the living from the dead.  The ancient Greeks buried their dead with a silver coin in their mouth as payment to Charon for this trip.  Those who did not receive proper funeral rites were forced to wander along the riverbank for 100 years before obtaining passage from Charon.

Nix is the Greek goddess of darkness and night, and mother of Charon.  Kerberos is the many-headed dog who guards the gates of the underworld.  And last but not least, Hydra is the nine-headed serpent who battled Hercules.  Hydra’s blood was full of highly toxic poison and even after Hydra was killed, her blood was used as a weapon.  Hydra was also immortal and had regenerative abilities, until Hercules put that name to the test. :-)

America's Pluto return is expected to last for a while.

On March 23, 2023, Pluto will shift from Capricorn to Aquarius.
Pluto will twice more retrograde into Capricorn before officially entering Aquarius on November 19, 2024.
Following the final transition into Aquarius, the Pluto return will start coming to a close.

So are we doomed?

It depends.  Been there, done that, back in 1776.  So, we can do it all over again, right?

The secret of change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new. -Socrates

Until next time...   Much much love from both of us!

Na’maste Kala! (Which in Greek means, may we all be well!)
