We Have A Baby!

Today's weekly thoughts are slightly out of the ordinary.  :)

The reason being, we have an extra-ordinary new addition to the Yoga Energy Family!

Her name is Freyja and she is 10 weeks old.  Freyja joined our family last week Friday.  Hence the name Freyja, in honor of the Norse Goddess that Friday is named after. :)

Freyja, in a very short time has learned crate training, potty training and some basic commands.  She comes from the local shelter and rumor has it that she is a Border Collie mix with a possible Basenji influence.  This makes her highly interesting emotionally and mentally, and of course right down gorgeous physically.  :)

Based on her astrological chart (and yes, I did her chart) she is highly creative and very intuitive, yet prone to Vata derangement.  This means that she needs a daily routine and a lot of good fat.

As Tim and I looked more into what to feed her, we found out that a dog's gut is very similar to a human's gut.  Ayurvedically speaking, our guts and our canine companions' guts have the same tendencies, only theirs are slightly stronger against unwanted bacteria.  Therefore, in order to thrive, both us and our puppies need good animal fat, a good amount of animal protein, and low carbohydrates.

What we also found interesting is that the weaker a puppy's gut is (in other words, the sicker a puppy is) the more cooked both the meat and the fat need to be.  This is exactly Charaka's (the original Ayurvedic physician) recommendation in terms of our human diet.

So we have chosen to give Freyja a raw diet meal plan as she slowly weans away from her commercial carbohydrate based diet.  She currently eats twice a day and she loves raw eggs, bone broth, lamb burger, lamb liver and lamb kidneys mixed in with her dried food.

Here is a picture of her.  As she is getting used to having her picture taken, she will soon be making her debut on YouTube.  :)

Until next time...   Much much love from all of us!
Na’maste Kala! (Which in Greek means, may we all be well!)
