Vata Derangement and Anger Management

Published: Sun, 08/21/22

Yesterday, August 20, highly controversial planet Mars made a very bold move.  He entered Gemini and he intends on staying there until end of March 2023.

Why is this transit worth talking about?  Well, Mars does not typically spend that long of a time in a particular sign.  Last time a similar transit occurred was in 1991.

Mars's transits tend to usually last about six weeks or so, not seven months.  A seven month transit makes Mars a slow planet which goes against Mars's strong tendency for speed.

What does this mean to you?

Ayurvedically, Mars is associated with our physiological guts, our emotional guts and our mental guts.  Gemini, a highly Vata sign, reflects the realm of communication, travel and study.

So if we are relatively balanced, this seven-month period can give us the courage to exercise a lot more of our creative expression and actually turn it into something tangible.

Think turning a hobby into a business, studying a subject you have always wanted, writing a book, creating a cooking channel, anything and everything that you have been procrastinating because you have the tendency to get in your own way.

But Vie, you said "if we are relatively balanced".  What happens if someone is not relatively balanced?  Well, as you have probably heard us say before, when Vata goes out of balance we experience "Vata derangement".

Vata derangement manifests itself in many annoying forms.  However, Vata derangement fueled by Mars can be disturbing.  Think impatience, anger, inexplicable and unpredictable surges of destructive energy, whether in your immediate community or around the world at large.

Okay.  And how do we know if we are relatively balanced?

According to Charaka (the original Ayurvedic physician),  health is known as happiness while disorder is unhappiness.

Are you happy at least 80% of the time?  Then you are healthy.

If however, you are not happy at least 80% of the time, then the Rig Veda, a text that predates Ayurveda, says: One should eat nutritious food and exercise regularly to have sound health.

Until next time...   Much much love from all of us!
Na’maste Kala! (Which in Greek means, may we all be well!)
