Today, I received confirmation that I will be attending a seminar on Blood Flow Restriction.
If you're not familiar with this, a bare bones explanation is that you put these specialized wraps around the upper arms and or upper legs and perform rather high repetitions in lifts such as dumbbell curls and leg extensions
with relatively low weights.
Jim Wagner will be running the course, and I got a short demonstration a couple of years ago from him, in person. We got it on video, and you can watch it here: Blood Flow Restriction Training.
There is one potential benefit for which I am
particularly interested in this mode of training: HYPERTROPHY.
Jim mentions in that video above about the production of growth hormone in the body, as a response to this type of training. And as a dude who's been training 20+ years and seeing Muscle Building results in my training coming harder and harder, I'm always looking for ways to naturally boost muscle building hormones.
What's very attractive is that, according to Jim, the muscle building results benefit the entire body, and NOT just the bodypart working during the BFR Training.
, this is really cool for me. I love any learning opportunity, but often the majority of the content in seminars I attend is not within my core interest. But knowing that basically this whole entire workshop is geared towards
something I'm passionate about is extremely exciting.
