Today, I want to talk to you about the advantages of training in Zone 2!
Zone 2 training is a type of aerobic exercise that keeps your heart rate between 60-70% (Grippers - blue color on your myzones) of your maximum heart rate. This is the “sweet spot” where your body efficiently burns fat, increases
your endurance, and improves your overall cardiovascular health.
Imagine a somewhat brisk walk or a light jog (for some) where you can still hold a conversation—this is likely where you are in Zone 2. Most of you have either a myzone or watch device to figure out your magical numbers:-)
Here are 5 great reasons you might want to consider adding this to your training
plan:
Fat Burning:
This training is where your body primarily uses fat as a fuel source, making it ideal for fat loss. As you are NOT stressing the body in this zone, so it is NOT working against your fat loss goals.
Improved Endurance:
This training enhances your
aerobic capacity, allowing you to exercise longer and more effectively and not get tired playing with your kids, grandkids, or even going up the stairs.
Better & Faster Recovery:
Low-intensity exercise in this zone help reduce muscle soreness and speed up recovery. I am so classic for saying you can take tomorrow off since they were so good today and go for an outside walk -
lol!
Increased Mitochondria:
Boost the number and efficiency of your body’s energy-producing cells, enhancing your overall performance. This is health jargon for MORE and better energy. Who doesn't want that!
Enhanced Metabolic Health:
Improve your body’s ability to
manage blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of metabolic diseases. Great time for a zone 2 walk is after a meal to really help amp up your blood sugar regulation:-)
