Today, I want to remind you of a topic I have mentioned before. It's worthe
the reminder since we all need as much energy we can get:-)
When to drink that morning coffee to optimize your morning & energy...
Natural Cortisol Levels:
Our bodies produce more cortisol, a natural alertness hormone, typically peaking about 30-45 minutes after waking. Drinking coffee during this peak
might lessen the energizing effects of caffeine.
Wait for 90 Minutes:
By waiting 90 minutes after waking up to drink your coffee, you align better with the time when your cortisol levels start to drop. This can enhance the stimulating effects of caffeine and prevent the buildup of tolerance.
Adenosine and
Sleep:
Adenosine levels, which promote sleep, are low in the morning and accumulate over the day. Drinking coffee right after waking might be less effective because your adenosine levels are still rebuilding. Timing your coffee intake a bit later can maximize its wakefulness benefits.
Room Temperature Water with Lemon:
Starting your day with
room temperature water with lemon can be revitalizing. It aids in digestion, hydrates your body after the overnight fast, and provides a gentle vitamin C boost.
Even better is what I call...Wake Up Water:
16-20 oz. Filtered Water
½ fresh squeezed Lemon
Pinch of Cayenne Pepper
Other Options: Pinch of Cinnamon,
Ginger Root, Himalayan Sea Salt, and/or Turmeric. 1Tb. Apple Cider Vinegar
Try it for a Week:
The next 7-days, try starting with a glass of lemon water or our wake up water when you wake up. Wait about 90 minutes before having your first cup of coffee and see if you notice a difference in your energy levels and overall well-being throughout the day.
