I've been playing with different kinds of natural mica lately and doing tests to figure out how I can use it. You can read more about my testing process and results in an in depth article...read more... But
I thought I'd summarize the things I've learned so far:
-heat treating the mica before using it in fusing will reduce the amount of bubbling.
-heat treating the mica changes its color
-the natural mica is much more fragile after heat treating, making it easier to crush or flake apart
-you can even use mica that you find, it doesn't have to be fancy
