I love float (window) glass, I really do, it's like a blank slate just waiting to be turned into something amazing.

That can also be the challenge, its so....blank.

In addition to a whole bunch of glass products that you can add to float glass, you can also carve or engrave it to add texture and interest.

I define carving as removing significant amounts of glass to create texture and engraving as drawing on the surface of the glass to create lines.

News from the Studio

The year is speeding up rapidly, I'm already planning for summer and fall classes.

In case you missed it, I've begun teaching online classes.  These classes are similar to a webinar, but run 6-9 HOURS long, and are available to watch for free during the live broadcast and then for a small fee on demand later.

If you have a class or technique that you are dying to learn, but can't travel, REPLY to this message and let me know what it is, we're planning the next batch of webinars, and I love suggestions.

If you missed the basic bottle glass fusing class, you can still purchase the on-demand version at a discount for a while.  The class will be ready to view on 2/6/17.

The Advanced Bottle Glass Fusing class will be free live streaming in February.  You can sign up now if you like.  You do NOT have to be registered to watch the free live stream, but we do give away free things to registered viewers.

Hopefully today's articles will inspire you to try some new things with float (window) glass!

Advanced Bottle Glass Fusing - Online
Watch the live broadcast for free, and available for streaming later for a small fee.

Add to your knowledge of fusing with bottle glass with this advanced class.  We will spend time learning how to test for compatibility between different bottle glasses, how to use a variety of inclusions such as brass, copper, silver, aluminum, plaster, raw mica and enamels.  This class will build directly on the Basic Bottle Fusing class, some glass fusing experience is required.  We will make a variety of project with our new techniques, including wall vases, plates, glass boxes and lanterns.  We will also make a larger Fuse and Fold Animal.
