Fusing with Metal Inclusions
Things tend to get creative when you are working with only one color of glass. In my never ending quest to figure out yet another thing I can do with recycled glass, I tried metal inclusions as part of the design.
There are a number of metals that you can include, all of them useful as long as you know what will happen.

Fusing with Dirt and Sand Inclusions
|
Amazingly, you can use regular old dirt as an inclusion in glass art. Well, recycled glass art, I don’t know about that fancy schmancy art glass
stuff.
Easy enough. Dig out a little pile of dirt from your yard. Put it in a terra cotta saucer and run it through a firing cycle.

Firing Schedule for Inclusions - Bubble Squeeze
|
Firing with Inclusions requires you to adjust your firing schedule. By slowing down the ramp rates and adding a hold in the slumping range,
you can accomplish a ‘bubble squeeze’ and encourage the air to escape as the glass fuses.
