What a mad few days I've just experienced on the magical island of Ibiza!
Â
You know when
you're excited about something but a little nervous too? That's exactly how I felt as I boarded the plane early Sunday morning to head to Yogafit Retreat Ibiza
Â
I'd been 'thinking' about going for some time but had this story playing over in my mind about all the 'weird' and 'whacky' stuff it 'might' be. You know all the hippie chick stuff that we often perceive yoga retreats to be, which if I'm honest I didn't care for
much
Â
Turns out it was exactly what I needed, and my heart is filled with so much love, joy and appreciation right now. The memories I've created, the friendships I've made and the amazing feeling that comes with enjoying new experiences is priceless
Â
The range of classes on the timetable had everything from beach meditation, sunrise yoga, kundalini yoga, silent
disco and even an Austin Powers dance offÂ
Â
And then there were Tantra sessions - Â More on that shortly my friend ;-)
Â
My first thoughts looking at some of the sessions on the timetable where 'Hmm that's not my bag' but I was there to lean into vulnerability, get out of my comfort zone and to embrace the awkwardness that comes with all new
things so I went all in and am so glad I did....
Â
I really feel I've opened up to myself. I've a huge amount of love for who I am, what I have to give and how I choose to receive from others which might sound a bit weird but just imagine how much free you'd feel being 100% true to yourself...AMAZING!
Â
The type of sessions I'd have poo pood in the past were
actually some of my favourites
Â
Dance Flow Meditation wearing headphones with a live DJ playing in your ears was the first step to leaning into discomfort as I'm not a dancer, I don't feel I have natural rhythm (which I've learned is total B.S actually). I've never really felt comfortable in a dance situation, unless of course I'd had a few vinos but there we were 100% sober moving our bodies and dancing like no one was watching
to some amazing choons
Â
Discover TANTRA with James was next on my 'Hmm not really sure' radar
James travels about in his camper van, has long hair, wears all the beads and looks like your 'typical' hippie kinda guy. He is the kindest, heart warming friendly guy you'd meet
Â
He described his session of leaning into your sensual side
with others...
But don't worry everyone is fully clothed, which made me a little nervous lol
We started off the session moving around eye gazing at each other
Yes it was a little bit woo woo and it made me feel a bit awkward but I oddly enjoyed it too
I'll touch (pardon the pun) on this more in another email as it's a lot to take in
Â
I guess the third 'feeling awkard' class I went to was Kundalini Yoga which I have to say wasn't my favourite. Maybe because it was my last session of 20+ in 5 days and I was overly tired or maybe I just wasn't open to it but I didn't really 'get it' and that's fine
Â
We don't need to like or love everything we try, it's ok to say nope it's not for meÂ
Â
On that note I'd invite you to open your mind, to lean into your place of discomfort and the awkwardness of trying something new...
Â
I'm running a Rise and Shine yoga practice on zoom starting Tuesday 7th 6.15-7am
It’s a beautiful introduction to yoga if you're new to this type of class and runs for 4 weeks
I'd love for you
to join me, to embrace the awkwardness and see how it makes you feel
Â
Who knows, you might love it and if you don't at least you've given it a go right?
Â
Â
Also don't forget you can get a months VIP membership for unlimited classes throughout May for just £47 here >>>
