Back From A Road Trip!

Hey guys so I got back last week from three very full days on Orlando Florida. The first day was spent at Hollywood Studios at the DEWALT 20 volt cordless and Brush-less tool launch.

The rest of the time was spent at the International Builders Show looking for new and improved ways to remodel and build.

The show is always fun for me because I get to meet the faces behind the products and tools as well as get to spend time with some of my editor friends.

A few of the editors that are on my FAV list are from these great sites:

Lights ~ Camera ~ Action!

We just started showing our latest Concord Carpenter TV show.  This is episode 8 for us and the input on it has been great so far.

On this episode we talk about ice dams and show how we installed a roof and gutter deicing system.

One of these days I'll put together a blooper reel ... we have some good laughs doing this.

DEWALT Tool Launch: Disney Style!

As always DEWALT did not fail to deliver with tough tools but where they did fail was not allowing us enough time with the tools.

I did get a quick opportunity to try out the new circular saw - watch video

I also had the opportunity to get DEWALT's Jeremy Torok, Product Manager, on video talking about their new brushless impact driver.

The brushless technology is interesting enough but I'm finding not too many people understand what brushless power tools mean.

What is a brushless tool?   Read More.

Here's a few of the new DEWALT tools that caught my fancy!

12 volt pivot reciprocating saw DCS310S1

The DEWALT pivoting recip saw was an interesting addition to the 12 volt line.  This little saw is super compact, and has a three position pivot.  I can see this little baby taking the place of the jig saw in cabinet installation work.

DEWALT Combination Dual Port Fast Charger

This new charger supports existing stem pack batteries  on DEWALT's 7.2, 9.6, 14.4, and 18 volt systems, as well as the new 12 volt and 20 volt systems.   Unfortunately it is going to be sold seperately for $99.00.  Expect to see this released in April.

DEWALT Compact Recip Saw [corded]

My buddy Todd Fratzel from ToolBoxBuzz testing out the recip saw

                                             Playing with the recip!

The DEWALT DWE357 is roughly the size of my old ruger 357 firearm, not really I was just poking some fun at the model number.  It is a super small and compact saw.

I really liked the size, weight and balance.  Time will tell if it has the guts to survive as a remodel, demo or job site   go-to saw.

This saw weighs 6.8 pounds and is only 14.5 inches long.

That size is perfect for cutting between conventionally spaced framing lumber.

ECOBUST

I was blown away with this product.  This new and innovative product is sold by a company in Canada and WILL save you time and money!

What is Ecobust?

Ecobust is a non-toxic powdered mixture of natural minerals designed to expand and exert thousands of PSI on rock or concrete when combined with water.

The product is available in four different product types to guarantee performance reliability and allow custom purchases based on job size and the core temperature of the rock or concrete being demolished.

The demonstrations on this product were impressive.  This was probably my WINNER for innovation at the IBS show!

Saw Trax Panel Express Material Cart

 Easier Sheet Material Moving

I really liked this innovative material cart.  Its spring loaded. The weight of the materials pushes down a cradle which tightly grips the material load.

This cart allows one person to easily transport material over uneven or irregular surfaces.    The cart sell for approx.
$ 375.00

Returning To the Timberland PRO Helix Boot.

Checking back on a work boot review

This past July I wrote about the Timberland Helix PRO work boot.  Read my review here.

Back them I gave them a pretty high mark for quality and fit.

What I have not done with my reviews is to go back and report on how things held up over time on the jobsite.

These boots are now 7 months old and I wear them all the time.

They still look great and are more comfortable than ever. Every time I slip my feet into these boots it's like sliding your hand into a high quality, molded glove - a super nice fit.

So far I have not found a better fitting or durable work boot.
