A Concord Carpenter - Promoting best practices in the remodeling industry

Concord Carpenter Workshop News

Hi Guys,

Happy New Year!

New beginnings, fresh starts, reaffirmation of love and promises for a brighter future all come to mind as we think about the new year.

Then there are the superficial, yet purposeful promises we make to ourselves. We resolve to get in shape, lose weight, improve career paths, fix relationships, be a better person etc.

Wherever you are in this though process I hope that you succeed in your endeavors.

This past Sunday was my first weekly article and "How-to tip" in the Boston Globe.    In the article I answer the question, "Who the Hell [edited to heck] is Rob Robillard."    It was my attempt at humor as well as give readers some insight of who I am and where I came from.   I'd love to hear your thoughts on this article.

The column, and subsequent online content, is primarily set up as a Q&A but I will be sprinkling in tool reviews, how-to and some video.  I will be taking questions so feel free to email me at: [email protected]

Head-2-Head Testing:

We are in the midst of preparing our 2015 Head-2-Head testing list, and are open to suggestions.   I've heard from some of you, email me your thoughts

How To Install A Wall Safe

Most crimes committed are related to theft of personal property from a residential location.

There are many precautions you can take to secure your home  from locking  your house to installing an alarm.   Installing a wall safe is also a way to further secure items inside your home.

I think of a wall safe as a lock box bolted to the wall.  It will never totally prevent theft but it will seriously slow down anyone trying to remove it.

The best way to enhance the security of a wall safe is to install it in an inconspicuous location and tell no one about it.

Dishwasher Buying Guide
Older dishwashers, ten years or more, are neither energy efficient nor water efficient.  Often times using between 8 an  15 gallons of water per cycle.  Purchasing a new Energy Star rated dishwasher can save you 1,000 gallons or more water per year as well as use 10-13% less energy.

The following dishwasher buying guide can help you make an educated purchase decision.
