A Concord Carpenter - Promoting best practices in the remodeling industry

Concord Carpenter Workshop News

Hi Guys,

It's one of those weeks - I definitely feel like there is an elephant on my back.

The ACC and TBB team is heading to Las Vegas Today to attend the World of Concrete.   Keep an eye on Wednesday on our social media channels for minute to minute updates.

If you'd like to see a built in book case project we are working on , click here.

This week, the A.C.C crew is working to install a 3-legged pedestal to support a telescope on a third floor of a house.  The pedestal has to be completely separated from the house structure to avoid vibration issues.  Watch the A.C.C Facebook page for updated photos.

Ideas During The Blizzard?

Here are some easy DIY projects to do while you’re stuck inside.  Depending on where you live, winter is inevitable. So plan ahead this season, and use the time inside for some quick home improvement projects.

Seal Drafty Windows – Save energy and reduce utility costs by sealing drafty windows around the house. Use DAP Dynaflex 230 100% Waterproof Window, Door & Trim Sealant.

Install a Closet Organizer – An off-the-shelf organizer system offers the ideal way to keep your closet clutter under wraps. Find numerous options at your favorite hardware and home improvement retailer.

Refresh Your Bathroom – Replacing a shower fixture or resealing your bathtub are simple and budget friendly projects that can give your bathroom a fresh new look.

Accessorize Cabinets – New knobs, pulls and handles are an easy way to improve the overall look of a kitchen or bathroom without going to the expense of adding custom cabinets.

Fix or Add Crown Molding – Crown moldings can really add value to your home and make any room feel more upscale. Use DAP Alex Flex Molding & Trim Sealant – specially formulated for architectural moldings.

Patch and Paint – Fill in any chips and scratches on your walls, or paint a whole room for a fresh look come spring.

A Different Kind of Vacuum
A clean, safe, and efficient job site is a goal every contractor should strive for and a good vacuum setup is a key component to achieving that goal.

Traditionally barrel style shop vacs filled this role but they can be awkward to take in and out of a site without whacking and scratching up the walls.

The trend now is moving towards ultra-portable units that can be moved easily to the work area. The RIDGID Pro Pack fits right into that category.

3-Steps to a Clean Fresh Smelling Sink Drain
Drain cleaners are expensive and caustic, instead try our homemade drain cleaner.  This process will take you less than five minutes to do:
  1. Pour half a box of baking soda down the drain.
  2. Pour vinegar over top of the baking soda to create a foaming action.
  3. Allow the foam to settle, and repeat until all of the baking soda is gone.
  4. Allow the drain to sit unused for a while after cleaning.
  5. Run hot water down the drain the first time you use it to remove any dirt or debris left behind.
