A Concord Carpenter - Promoting best practices in the remodeling industry

Concord Carpenter Workshop News

Hi Guys,

Many of you know that I have a carpentry column in the Boston Sunday Globe.  If you know the column, then you also know that before it was "The Globe Carpenter," it was called "Handyman on Call," and was written by Peter Hotton. [photo above]

Peter's, who was 87, died Wednesday after a battle with cancer.

Peter, continued writing columns and fielding phone calls part time for years after retiring from full-time work.  He wrote over 6,800 articles about home repair during his half-century at the Globe.

He was an inspiration to me in my early years. He was the guy who had ALL the answers to what it seemed like ALL of my handyman problems. He made the hard stuff seem easy, and more important, doable.

Peter Hotton, you will be missed.

Build America is Back - Year 2!

On my website, Concord Carpenter, I spend a lot of time writing articles to help contractor’s become better leaders ,and more professional, within their trade. We also try to give back to the community when we can. So it should no surprise that we jumped on the opportunity to help “Build America” build leaders of tomorrow by serving people with disabilities today!

The crew at Concord Carpenter and ToolBoxBuzz wanted to  be part of something bigger than ourselves, so we volunteered to instruct the Build America Team on tool usage, and tool safety, again this year.

This is an intensive 2-day program that will teach these 21 young men how to safely use, and operate power tools, and how to build some of the projects they will be encountering.

Cordless Mowers

Cordless Lawn Mowers are being touted for being quieter, odorless, and nearly maintenance free. On the other hand, gas powered mowers require lots of service including oil changes, fuel filters, spark plugs and air filters.

Any often times people wait to do service until the mower won’t start and the lawn is growing faster than the hair on your head! Cordless mowers eliminate much of the maintenance and they are quieter and odorless.

Our cordless lawn mower head to head will tell you who we think makes the best model, and we’ll answer the question whether cordless mowers perform similar to a gas powered mower
