A Concord Carpenter - Promoting best practices in the remodeling industry

Concord Carpenter Workshop News

Hi Guys,

June has turned out to be an insanely busy month for us at ACC.

I just got back from my buddy Ben's amazing wedding weekend in Portland, ME. You may know him from his cool photos he takes for us at ACC, or from his awesome fly fishing blog, "New England on the Fly."

Congrats Ben!!  "To the bright side of the road buddy!"

Were almost ready, and putting the final touches on our volunteer project, the Build America tool training event which is on June 26-27.  I'm taking a few days off from work to travel to Milwaukee with Todd Fratzel, and ACC carpenter.

Milwaukee never seems to disappoint, they are totally committed to support the professional tool user with innovative heavy-duty power tools and more recently hand tools that are durable and reliable.

As a remodeling contractor I’m more of a generalist and often find myself performing a multitude of tasks across different trades.

Milwaukee seems to have all of these the trades covered.  While admittedly less inclined to the carpenter Milwaukee certainly gears their tools to the plumber, electrician, HVAC, Maintenance and repair trade.

I always leave Milwaukee's event with new friends and a few favorite tools that I will no doubt, share with you.

Father's Day!!

It is so busy, that I forgot to schedule this e-letter, yes this is last weeks newsletter!  So Happy Belated Father's Day guys - hope you got a chance to see my video  to all you dads!  It's still not late to enjoy our message - click here

Stay Safe!

Remember whether performing construction applications or working with power tools:  "Don't confuse good luck with bad practices .....

Stay Safe and follow BEST PRACTICES!!"

Replacing a Broken Granite Post

I live just outside of Boston and just about everywhere you look, new and antique, granite is used in hardscapes. Everything from century old granite posts, reclaimed curbing, foundation / seawall block, trestle and bridge support block, steps, gates, post, borders and support walls.

This article will address how I replaced two 6″ x 6″ x 60″ granite posts that were broken off at the base by a snowplow this past winter.

Dewalt's Built in the USA Initiative

Tradesmen and women are passionate about lots of things and that’s particularly true about their desire for tools made here in the US.

Clearly the movement to build products here in the US is based on the desire of consumers to buy products made here at home. After visiting Dewalt's Charlotte, NC facility, and hearing that DEWALT plans to expand upon this facility even more means there’s a certain level of success by moving some of the manufacturing back to the States
