Good morning everyone!

The rapid advancement of battery technology is changing our lives on a daily basis. From electric cars to high demand power tools the sky seems to be the limit. This Summer has been eye opening for our team as we visited two of the premiere tool companies that are in an all out cordless tool war. While they wage war on each other the real winners are all of us who use tools to make a living and build projects at home and on the job.

Today I'd like to share a bit about DEWALT's new variable battery platform called FLEXVOLT™, , metal roofing options, and a complicated safety issue in controlling silica dust on the jobsite.

DEWALT's FLEXVOLT Convertible Battery System

If I said to anyone 5 years ago that there would be a viable cordless table saw on the market people would laugh at me and likely never take me serious again. Fast forward today and a cordless table saw is now a reality with the introduction of DEWALT's FLEXVOLT System. DEWALT introduced FLEXVOLT last month at their media event and it's turning things upside down in the cordless tool industry.

FLEXVOLT is the World's first convertible battery pack that can switch between 18V and 54V (20V Max and 60V Max) depending on the tool that it's connected with. This new pack can also run on any existing 20V Max DEWALT tools that users already own.

In addition to a table saw, DEWALT also introduced a full size 12" sliding miter saw along with several other tools including a grinder, reciprocating saw, circular saw and joist drill.
