Last week our team was scattered about visiting manufacturers from the tool industry to see and learn about amazing new tools that are constantly changing the world we live in. Rob was over the pond in Germany visiting with Festool and Todd and Jeff were down in Virginia Beach getting to know the folks from Stihl. And today Todd is meeting with the folks from Georgia Pacific about their new sheathing product called ForceField

Why all the travel and constant visits with these manufacturers? The answer is simple, we're living in a time when new products for the construction, remodeling, and home improvement industry are being designed at warp speed. We spend a lot of time trying to keep up with all these new products in an effort to keep all of you informed. So sit back and enjoy a sneak peak into some of these great new products.

In the meantime be sure to check out our latest video every Friday called Tools On Tap!

TYTAN Subfloor High Yield Adhesive
Image
For years carpenters have been building great grip strength from squeezing miles of subfloor adhesive from large caulking gun tubes when framing subfloors. Not only have traditional subfloor adhesives been a pain to install they didn’t always work to prevent floor squeaks and often left a heck of a mess behind on the floor below.

Fast forward to today and there are several new subfloor adhesives emerging in the market including TYTAN Subfloor High Yield Adhesive. TYTAN is a subfloor adhesive using collapsing gel adhesive technology in order to produce a high yield, stronger, and better gap filling product than traditional cartridge style subfloor adhesives. Find out what we think of this new product by clicking the link below.

DEWALT Cordless Metal Connector Nailer
Image
Once again we've got another tool that has gone cordless and this time it's a cordless metal connector nailer from DEWALT. The DEWALT DCN693M1 is a 20V cordless nailer specifically designed to shoot structural nails specified for hangers and connector plates.

More often than not framers are working on ladders when installing hangers and connector plates. So going cordless and removing an air hose not only improves safety but it also reduces the need for a noisy air compressor.

This is a great new nailer and one that any full time framer should look into. Click the link below to learn more about it.

STIHL - Made in the USA!
Image
Last week Todd and I traveled to Virginia Beach, VA to visit STIHL and their US manufacturing facility. STIHL is a brand that many of us have grown up using especially those that use chainsaws and string trimmers. We were there to get a sneak peak on quite a few new products being released later this month including lots of new cordless outdoor power equipment along with some additional gas powered products.

While we can't go into detail just yet it's worth mentioning that there are some gas powered pressure washers coming, two new lines of cordless equipment, and a continued impressive line of gas powered chainsaws.

What we can share and something that really resonated with both of us is the amazing manufacturing facility in VA. We were surprised to learn that over 85% of the STIHL brand products that are purchased in the US are made in the US! We're not just talking assembly here, we're talking almost complete manufacturing from plastic housings to pistons for gas motors. STIHL has over one million square feet of manufacturing at that location and it continues to grow steadily.

Later this month we'll have more news on the new line of products coming for Spring 2017 from STIHL.
