Baby It's Cold Outside!

Another Polar Vortex is settling over the midwestern US while it snows out east and west. Winter can be a harsh time for both people and buildings. In this newsletter we've covered Ice Dams a few times but it's always good to revisit it in case you find yourself in this dam(n) situation in the near future.

While it may be harsh outside, winter can be a great time to plan out your next project, whether it be exterior or even interior. With the shorter days, a lot of us spend much more time indoors. Use some of that time to plan out your next remodel.

And lastly, we want to say thank you for another year. If you're new here or you've been reading since the beginning, we are glad you're here. If there's anything we can do differently or better this year, let us know in the Survey.

DEWALT 60V FlexVolt Circular Saw Review
Image
Ice Dams are fun to look at when you're a kid. Big long icicles are downright amazing until you grow up and they're on your house. Every winter we usually include an ice dam article or two. Sometimes it's the one on how they happen and how to prevent them, sometimes it's the one on how to fix them. This year, we're just giving you a link to a whole page full of articles on ice dams so whatever situation you're in, we probably have an article on it. We know all about them because our homes are subject to them too. The picture is of Rob's house a few years ago.

RIDGID GEN 5X 18V Belt Sander
Image

We knew RIDGID probably had a few more rabbits in their hat when they released the cordless router in 2016 but color us surprised that the next tool was a cordless belt sander. I think this is one of the last power tools to go cordless. We now have miter saws, table saws, power planers, routers, belt sanders, and on and on. Someday we'll be telling future generations how jobsite tools used to have cords and there would be extension cords strewn all over jobsites.

We got our hands on this new sander and even gave it a run time test. I think you'll be surprised at its longevity.
