Staying Safe

Hi Guys,

Unlike the old English nursery rhyme, "Humpty Dumpty," injuries are a serious matter. I'm writing this newsletter on the couch with a massively swollen knee, a bag of ice and crutches! Not only did I spent the entire weekend like this but will probably be out of work at least a week or two. Urggghh!

This recent event made me realize the importance off Slip and fall dangers, job site safety and PPE on the job site. I decided to dedicate this newsletter to PPE and things we can do to keeps us safe.

On another note, in case you don't check the Tool Box Buzz site regularly or follow us on Facebook, there have been 8 articles posted in just the last 2 days including a new Head-2-Head article on gas/cordless framing nailers.

Oh yea, I almost forgot to mention that the recent cordless framing nailer H2H that we did is live on TBB and the teaser video is below.  Full video in a week.

Timberland Safety Toe Boots - Review
Image
Safety shoes are paramount on any job site, The Timberland Gridworks 8″ Waterproof Alloy Safety Toe out of the box is one of the best work boots I’ve worn.

Timberland PRO® has addressed critical failure points with tried and true designs.

While bringing back some classic features like a shank in the sole of the boot for structural support, great for long periods on a ladder. While using advanced technology to provide superior comfort, like mesh linings with antimicrobial treatments to help with odor control.

How To Control Remodeling Dust

Image
As a remodeling contractor I learned early on that learning how to control remodeling dust and keeping out of the non-remodeled portion of your clients home is often more important than the quality of your work.

There is nothing worse than having your client tell you they want you to pay for a professional to remove the plaster dust from inside their baby grand piano.
Over the years I have developed strategies and researched the BEST methods to control remodeling dust.

Pyramex I-Force Safety Glasses - Review

Image
Protecting our eyes is paramount - do you consistently wear safety glasses? I don't and need to be better about it. Part of the reason is I'm lazy, and I have yet to find a pair of glasses that don't scratch and get mess-up in a week.

Until now.....

Pyramex safety glasses are popular on our job-sites mostly due to their affordable cost, durability, lightweight and features.  One thing that is apparent when going through the Pyramex eye wear we had was that they obviously solicit and respond to end-user feedback. When ever a manufacturer does that you know the end result is something we want!

Milwaukee 3-in-1 Heated Jacket Long Term Review

Image
We all make mistakes. Some are just a little more costly than others.

I’m a pretty safety conscious kind of guy. I look where I’m putting my feet on the job site. I wear eye, ear, and lung protection.

I keep my footing under me when I’m using my tools, use blade guards when they’re present and generally try to keep myself from getting hurt. But even when you’re careful and take proper precautions things can go wrong as they did recently for me when I had a run-in with my framing nailer.

Ladder Safety
Image
Each year in the U.S., accidents involving ladders cause more than 300 deaths and 160,000 injuries requiring emergency medical attention. Ladder accidents usually are caused by improper selection, care or use and not by manufacturing defects.
 Common Ladder Hazards

Some of the more common hazards involving ladders, such as instability, electrical shock, and falls, can be predicted and prevented.

Prevention requires proper planning, correct ladder selection, good work procedures and adequate ladder maintenance.
