Think Spring!

Hi Guys,

We've been getting socked with snow here in the Northeast so it's hard to think about Spring. However, in the last few weeks we've been seeing lots of new tool announcements for cordless outdoor power equipment. With the amazing advancements in battery technology it's not surprising to see more and more high demand tools being developed to run solely on battery power.

When we were out at World of Concrete Makita introduced a sweet new cordless chainsaw that kept up with similar sized gas powered saws. Last week DEWALT introduced a great looking 16" brushless chainsaw. We just ordered samples of a couple new cordless chainsaws from STIHL that we tried last summer at their media event. Milwaukee also has a new lineup of cordless outdoor power equipment coming soon.

So today is a sneak peak at some of the outdoor power equipment we'll be evaluating and reviewing this Spring.

Makita Cordless Chainsaw
Last month at the World of Concrete we got to try Makita's new cordless chainsaw and it's very impressive! The Makita 18V X2 LXT® Lithium-Ion (36V) Brushless Cordless Chain Saw, model XCU03Z was designed to provide gas powered performance on a battery platform and from our initial trials we'd have to agree that they hit the mark. The saw features a 14" bar, and at only 100 db is far quieter than any gas powered saw for sure. Check out this teaser video to learn more.

With the introduction of Milwaukee's High Demand 9.0 Ah battery pack this year they also introduced a line of new outdoor power equipment. Like many other tool companies they realize that tradesmen that use their tools also have yards to maintain so it's a great idea to offer their users a line of equipment for outdoor maintenance. This new line is also designed for the landscaper and property maintenance folks.

The new lineup includes: M18 FUEL Brushless String Trimmer, M18 FUEL Hedge Trimmer, and an M18 FUEL Blower. We suspect this line will grow in the near future as it only makes sense to add a full compliment of tools.

We got a hands on demo of these tools last Summer and hope to put them to the test this Spring so stay tuned for more information.

STIHL has been a powerhouse in the outdoor power equipment arena forever! Known for their gas powered equipment they are now releasing a wide range of cordless battery powered OPE. This is exciting because they have such a long history in this industry and knowledge that these new tools are sure to impress.

When we had a chance to demo these new cordless products last Summer we were quite impressed. Samples are on the way so we can evaluate them properly this Spring. We'll be comparing chainsaws from several different lines to show the range of products that STIHL is offering for everyone from home owners to professionals.
