Hi Guys,
I can tell Spring is around the corner (even though there's still almost a foot of snow on the ground here in NH) by the number of calls I've been getting recently for estimates.
Everything from new houses to small remodeling and repair jobs, the phone is ringing and that's a nice problem to have.
For me, I've been trying to wrap up some "winter" projects of my own before the yard calls my name. Last week I finished up building a sliding barn door and want to share that project today as sliding barn doors are all the rage right now. Rob has a great article on outsourcing for contractors, and we've finally wrapped up our long awaited review of
the DEWALT FLEXVOLT Cordless 12" Sliding Compound Miter Saw.
Next week Rob and I will be traveling to Mississippi to visit one of Milwaukee's factories where they are building accessories here in the US! Be sure to stay tuned for information from that trip as we feel anything built in the US is worth our attention.

Building A Sliding Barn Door
Sliding barn doors are very popular right now. We've built several for clients and I recently built one for our newly finished basement. This is a fun project that can be done with basic wood working tools and offers a tremendous amount of creative options if you like to experiment!
For this project I wanted a rustic looking barn door. I used rough sawn White Pine, rustic door hardware,
and a very interesting finishing process that included staining the door with black tea and a solution of white vinegar and steel wool. This project was also a bit unique due to the low ceiling height which required a special sliding door track. For more information check out the full article below.
Do you have a mystery laundry room or washing machine odor?
If you do, the culprit is most likely your front loading washing machine. Many front loading washing machines develop a musty, mildew, rotten egg odor. The good news is that its curable with a little DIY maintenance.
The past year has seen several cordless miter saws introduced into the market place. However, DEWALT was the first (and only to this point) to introduce a full size 12" sliding compound miter saw. Built on their new FLEXVOLT 60V battery platform we were a bit skeptical if a cordless 12" miter saw was plausible.
Well to say we're impressed is probably an understatement. We actually
think this is the best job site miter saw on the market, not only cordless, but both cordless and corded because this saw can be plugged in as well!
Don't miss this review! It's full of information, and it really gives you glimpse of how far the industry has progressed and where we're headed.
