Hi Guys,
This week on the job site we're deep in the throes of getting a 40 year old, one owner home ready to sell. In 40 years a home can accumulate a lot of stuff. What makes it worse is that this
home has no dead space at all. Every nook and cranny was a closet of some kind. Yesterday we tore out moldy drywall, today was removing popcorn ceiling. It isn't glamorous work but it's necessary to get the return on the home the owner is looking for.
Spring is a great time to sell a home. In fact, in my area, the housing stock is at historic lows. Our first article gives a few tips and tricks on some simple things to help you improve your home's
appeal.
In our second article, Rob continues his Contractor Tips series with the Pareto Principle or better known as the 80/20 rule. What's great about it is that it is applicable to many things in life and not just construction.
Our last two articles are new introductions in tools. One from team red and one from team yellow. Read on below for more.

Getting Your Home Ready to Sell
When selling a home, it's important to bring in an objective third party. We brought in a trusted realtor to help us objectively evaluate our property so that we could get the most value out of it. We knew that having a professional with years of experience would have the best pulse on the current market and what people were buying in our area. She could tell us if our remodeling choices would help or hurt
us.
We then went about executing the list of fixes and in very little time we sold our home for what we wanted. Chalk one up in the win column.
The 80/20 Rule means that in any situation, 80% of results will come from just 20% of the action.
The 80/20 rule observes that most things have an unequal distribution and while it is not always an exact 80/20 ratio, this imbalance is often seen in many areas of business including construction. Read on to see how you can apply this to your own work and personal life.
Recently, OSHA delayed the enforcement date of the new silica rule. This puts in place rules and requirements for using engineering controls over PPE in silica producing tasks. The clock still marches on though and soon 9/23 will be here and the construction industry will have to be ready.
Milwaukee has just introduced a bunch of new solutions to extract the crystalline silica-riddled
dust at the source. Protecting workers and making for cleaner job sites.
The spring loaded tape measure is over 100 years old but that doesn't mean it can't be improved. Dewalt has released a beast of a tape worthy of the brand. With a long stand-out, good blade protection, and a very stout enclosure, this tape is sure to find a home in your tool bags. Read more for our complete thoughts on this new tool.
