Hey Guys,

I'm not big into resolutions. I'm a goals guy. I like to set goals with measurable progress and milestones. I start with the end result and work the plan backwards to the starting point setting attainable milestones. This year I'm putting myself on blast, I'm showing you guys my shop shame.

The picture above is the north wall of my shop. It has a miter saw on a portable stand next to a 6' section of countertop on folding table legs. Every bit of it was just meant to be temporary when we moved in 2 years ago. Since then, crap has just piled up on top and below it. This needs to change.

One of my goals this year is to build base cabinets across this wall with a continuous top except for a lowered section where the miter saw will sit. This also mean a new miter saw. One that fits closer to the wall. I've been seriously thinking about the Makita 10" Dual‑Bevel Sliding Compound Miter Saw - LS1019L. It's the corded saw similar to the 10" cordless X2 saw Rob reviewed a couple months ago. A lot of guys on instagram are really loving that saw too so I'm hoping the corded version is of similar quality.

If you care to chime in with suggestions or to share your own shame, [email protected] or message us on Facebook or Instagram.

Don't Bruise Your Ego Starting Your Old Snowblower
Image

Raise your hand if ever let the gas sit in your old snowblower too long and when it came around to the next winter, it just wouldn't start. Unfortunately I've done that with an engine in my day. You feel even worse after you have to go out and shovel by hand.

Ego now has a cordless snowblower perfect for lighter snowfalls. It can run on one or two of their 56V batteries. It's really quiet and has LED lights for clearing in the dark. The best part is you just push a button, grab the bail, and go about your business clearing snow.

Southwire LED String Lights
Image

As a remolding contractor I’ve use incandescent string lights to illuminate the job site for as long as I can remember.
Recently while attending a trade show I saw the Southwire LED String Light and was impressed with the quality of light output.
LED lights run cooler than incandescent bulbs and are safer, and WAY more durable.
