Hey Guys,
In case you didn't see it on our social outlets, Rob is making a huge announcement at JLC Live on Friday morning at 9AM Eastern. The picture above links to our Facebook page in case you're not following us yet. If you can't tune in live, you can watch the replay
later.
Another week and another snowstorm is pummeling New England. If you live in that area, I'm sure you're itching for spring. We're continuing the spring themed articles this week and next so I'm sorry if you can't see grass out your windows yet. One of our contributing editors lives down in Missouri and he's already planting his garden. Yeah, I'm jealous too.
Do you remember that beautiful, inviting picture from last week? That's my backyard and it's currently buried in snow. Pretty soon though all the snow will melt and the grass will green up and we'll be out enjoying that space as much as we can.
Have you ever wanted a covered outdoor living space? I did but with running a busy construction company, I knew I didn't have time to build a
pavilion from scratch. That's why I went with this knock-down one. It was all pre-machined and we had it mostly assembled in a day and it wasn't hard. Click the link below to learn how to it went together. Now's the perfect time to start planning one for your own yard.
Gardening season is just starting for many of you or it will be soon. Here's a quick easy project to build a raised garden planter. A raised planter helps keep weeds out, makes it easier on your body to garden, and offers better drainage. Click the link below to learn how to make your own raised planter.
We're going to break away from our spring theme for a moment with this article. Many of you out east may have the day off work or school and are stuck indoors while the snow falls. It's a great day to stay inside and play some games by the fire. Here's a recent project I just completed for my son and me. I built it out of walnut and maple scraps that I had left over from some cutting boards. It turned out really
well and it's something I'm very proud of.
Just in time for Spring, Makita has a new split-shaft system coming to their outdoor power equipment line. Now you can have either a cordless 18V X2 power head or a 25CC 4-stroke gasoline power head mated to 8 different attachments.
We reviewed the this same 4-stroke motor a couple years ago on their high-torque string trimmer and it's still my go to for large yards. Starts first pull and is smooth as a sewing machine.
Having options for attachments has always been a useful
feature but now being able to pick a powerhead that suits your needs is even better.
"Beast" is a term that gets thrown around a bit in the tool and construction world. And for a long time, everyone wanted a tool that was the beast in its area. Cordless tools weren't all that strong so you wanted to buy the strongest ones available. Well now Milwaukee is able to wrangle 1,400 ft/lbs of nut-busting torque (reverse) out of their high-torque impact wrench. Sometimes you want all that power but many
times, 1,400 ft/lbs is way too much.
What's great though is that, this tool comes with a "beauty" side to it as well and that's the imbedded One-Key technology. It allows you to dial down the beast to the proper torque for your application. That broadens the use of this tool to a multitude of additional smaller fasteners and gives repeatability to the task. That makes it a winner all around.
