Hey Guys,
Having a summer-ready yard, deck, or patio doesn't happen without quite a bit of hard work earlier in the season. In this week's newsletter we're continuing the spring theme with a focus on backyard stuff. How to build a shed ramp, deck footings, and spring grass tips are all on the menu. And
for a bonus, click on the image above to see how Rob added string lights to his backyard. They are perfect for evening entertaining.
Unless you buried your shed partially in the ground, the floor may be as much as a foot above grade. A ramp is definitely in order. Read on for how to build a shed ramp for your own structure.
The shed shown in this article isn’t the one from our shed series but the ramps are built exactly the same with 2×4 stringers and a cleat but with different dimensions to match the width of the door and the slope of the yard.
Deck footings are the foundation of a good and stable deck. In this article we'll show you all our tips and tricks for getting this critical step just right so that your deck starts off of the right foot(ing). Ha!
Having a lush, green summer lawn doesn't happen by accident. It takes the right steps at the right time so that it's well established and growing during the months you enjoy it the most. In this article we touch on some simple tasks to help get your lawn going. The article is a primer for getting your lawn ready but more in depth steps are located at the links in each section.
Festool Bluetooth Remote Control For CT Dust Extractors
Switching over to cordless tools has very few drawbacks. One of them though is that you can't trigger the dust extractor to turn on with the tool. Makita has solved this with their AWS system but it can't be retrofitted to old tools. Festool
has gone a slightly different direction and built a remote that fits both new and existing CT extractors (CT 26, 36, and 48).
Besides being able to retrofit to old extractors, it doesn't cost that much either. The pre-order price for the remote and adapter is just $80 and it ships on 4/2. That's a pretty good deal.
I used to be a naysayer when it came to battery-powered OPE (outdoor power equipment). I thought it wasn't for me because it wouldn't be powerful enough or have enough runtime. Then I went to Stihl and experienced first had the abilities of cordless OPE. I was even more convinced when I got it for my own house.
Stihl has equipment for small and large yards alike. I went to my local independent
servicing dealer to figure out which trimmer would work best for my yard. Having just over a 1/3 acre city lot, the FSA 56 was perfect. Check out the image above, the proof is in the clippings... battery powered OPE has the snort to tame even wild yards.
