Hey Guys,
We're in Milwaukee, Wisconsin this week for Milwaukee Tool's annual New Product Symposium where they show us all of the new products coming in the next year or two. It's a whole slug of new tools packed into a single day (5/5). We'll do our best to hit all of the highlights on our social media
channels as well as answer your questions. Give us a follow on your preferred platform of choice to follow along live!
Who Makes the Best Tape Measure? Tape measure and hammer brands often cause more debates on the job site than anything else, and I can see why. When you use a tool daily, hourly, or more, you become attached to it. One of the most critical tools required by all construction trades is the tape measure. So, who makes the best tape measure? A belt sander can be found in just about every carpenter’s tool trailer. It’s used for hogging out material fast. I most often use mine to sand to a scribe line when fitting cabinets or trim stock to walls, floors, or ceilings. The issue is that a belt sander takes two hands to really run it effectively. That means that the piece getting sanded has to be clamped down or heavy enough not to move when the sander is
used, like with a cabinet. Ideally a jig to hold the sander so that the material can be manipulated and sculpted would be the ticket. Here's how I built mine.
Milwaukee first introduced the cordless lighting category of RADIUS site lighting in 2016 and have continued their mission to improve the LED category. Up to this point they have mostly been focusing on temporary, longer term job site lighting. The M18 Radius Compact Site Light combines the best of both worlds by using the work light of the M18 2HP Flood Light 2360-208 and the M18 LED Site Light
2145-20.
Most carpenters consider their tool belt as an extension of their body. It’s where these craftsman keep their tools that help them complete their day to day tasks. Every tool has it’s own home within our tool belts and we can reach down and grab them without even looking. As with all of our tools, tool belts can take quite the beating on job sites day in and day out. Diamondback Toolbelts
have developed a belt that can definitely withstand the rigors of the construction world. When they asked us if we wanted to try out their Diamondback Tool belt, Denali Toolbelt Set, we couldn’t resist.
