Hey Guys,
Last weekend we helped train 18 college-aged men on tool use/safety as well as building practices that they'll need when they tour the country this summer improving and building accessible structures at camps for kids with disabilities. It's a very worthy endeavor and the least we can do is help equip them for the
projects. Clicking the picture above will take you to a Vimeo video that gives you a snapshot of all that these fraternity brothers do at these camps.
The articles in this volume of the newsletter include one on considerations when creating an outdoor living space and then a couple on contractor advice. How to write a construction proposal and then the simple yet elegant 3-4-5 squaring method.
Most people familiar with the 3-4-5 method know that
multiples of those numbers (double, triple, quadruple, etc) all work. For example 6-8-10 is just the doubling of 3-4-5. But did you also know that digit repeating also works? 33-44-55, 333-444-555, etc. And then, you can do multiple of those as well. 66-88-110. The math never lies.
Regardless of your climate, outdoor living spaces are quickly becoming popular for cooking, entertaining and relaxation. More and more of my clients are looking to the outdoors to expand their homes and bring the same comforts they have inside to outdoor spaces, by creating multipurpose outdoor living spaces that function as extensions of their home.
Carpenters and builders often use the 3-4-5 method for squaring corners and ensure that the projects they are building has a precise 90 degree angle. In the residential and construction world carpenters often use speed squares and framing squares to check layouts but when the layout is large these squares are simply too small to guarantee the accuracy needed. Large remodeling and construction projects such as
laying out the foundation of a house or walls often employ a 3-4-5 triangle technique to ensure accurate 90 degree angles. So what is this method? Read on!
It seems like more and more guys are starting up their own companies lately and good for them. A lot of guys go into though knowing how to build but the business functions are new to them. One of the first things you need to know how to do is to write a construction proposal. We have solid tips and tricks to help you get started writing your own proposals.
We saw more new M12 tools at the latest Milwaukee Tool NPS but the newest drill and impact drivers have been the stars of shop and jobsite
for months. They are smaller yet more powerful than the previous versions. In some cases, an inch shorter. That's a huge deal for an already small tool. We all know that 12V tools aren't nearly as powerful as their 18V counterparts so why should a contractor even care about new 12V tools? Read on to find out.
Last week we showcased the best single battery 18V recip saws but what about the high-capacity offerings? Who makes the best of the best?! Is it the Makita X2, the Dewalt FlexVolt, or the Milwaukee with the 9.0 battery?
