Hey Guys,
It has taken quite awhile but the Job Site Table Saw Head To Head is almost done. This is for corded table saws with a mobile stand, a staple on job sites all over North America. Later this year we'll be doing a cordless table saw article as well between the Dewalt, the new Milwaukee, and the Multi-Volt Hitachi
(coming out this summer).
In this week's newsletter we have an article on building a dog wash station, reinforcing a pony wall, and then some all new tool reviews including the huge 16-5/16" Skilsaw Super Sawsquatch. Scroll down to check them all out.
At my house there were two ways to wash my two labs when they return from a muddy walk. Either outdoors with the hose or indoors [cold weather] in our neo-angle shower stall enclosure. Both methods have their disadvantages not to mention you have to bend over and that bothers my lower back which led me to building a dog wash station. In this article I'll show you how I did it so you can do one in your
own home.
Whether you call it a half wall, knee wall or Pony wall the issue is the same. What is the best way to go about reinforcing a half wall? No one likes a wobbly wall or the cracked plaster and tile that result from it.
Reinforcing a half wall can be accomplished many different ways. I’ve done many different things over the years from adding 1/2″ plywood to a half wall
to inserting threaded rods down into the framing below. I'll show you another method in this article.
Walk-Out foundations create an interesting dilemma in when considering wall insulating details. I’ve written extensively on the subject of how to properly insulate basement walls which deals with concrete (and block) walls but I’ve never addressed the occasional wood framed walk-out walls that exist in some many homes today. In this article I want to discuss the options most suitable for insulating these wood framed exterior walls that exist in homes with walk-out basements.
Dewalt recently launched an inflator/deflator that can be plugged in to either a wall outlet or 12V power socket in an automobile. It can also be powered off of a 20V Max battery pack. It has both a high volume inflation/deflation hose as well as a high pressure inflation hose. This makes this tool so versatile and useful. This tool rides under the backseat of my truck no matter where I go. I won't leave home
without it. Read on to see if it's something you could use as well.
There is but one word to describe this saw... BEAST. When you need a saw that can cut a full 6" in one pass, Skilsaw has got you covered. It's awesome for cutting posts and beams used in decks, framing, post framed buildings, timber frames, or any other big wood. It has all the features and power of any other skilsaw wormdrive saw just in larger proportions. If you need to cut big wood, check out our
review.
