Hey Guys,
There's just under a week left in October to enter the Tradesman/Tradeswoman Of The Month contest. All you have to do is email us a photo of you and your work with the hashtag #tbbpro and you're entered to win. Seriously, it's that easy. If your entry wins, you get a tool prize pack from Milwaukee Tool that's
relevant to the work you do. An iron worker got a high torque impact wrench, a welder got a 9" cordless grinder. You can enter every month. Just keep trying until you win. We do it because we want to honor you, the tradesmen and women, that read our stuff. Click the image above for all the details and email address of where to send your entry.
This week's articles fall under the "did you know?" kind of category. They aren't too complicated but not necessarily common
knowledge either. The first one is about why miter joints open up. Then we have one about controlling remodeling dust. The third content article is a how to on installing an air switch. Finally we have tool articles and YouTube videos.
I’m sure everyone has seen a miter joint that has opened up similar to the one in this image. In the following article, I’d like to explain why this type of miter joint shrinkage happens so that you can try to avoid this unsightly problem. It's pretty simple why it happens and it's pretty simple to avoid if done in the planning stages of the build.
Remodeling dust is a pain whether you're the customer or the contractor. Controlling the dust generated during a remodel not only protects you and your employees but also keeps the customer happy. In this article we'll show you best practices for controlling dust on your job site.
Sometimes when building or remodeling a kitchen, a switch for turning on a garbage disposal may not fit in a convenient spot. This can be especially true if there is a sink in the island. Also, if you’re worried about flipping an electric switch with wet hands, an air switch is a good alternative. In this article, we’ll show you just how easy it is to install an air switch.
Not that long ago, 2-way radios were the norm on commercial job sites. Today, smartphones have taken over most of the radio's duties. The problem is that smartphones have never been as rugged for the construction site as those old radios were. Ask any contractor and I bet most of them will say that they've broke a phone or two on the job site, I know I have. Well, CAT has worked with phone manufacturers
to produced a rugged phone that's up to the rigors of a construction site while still keeping the functionality and apps that we've come to rely on for the modern site. Just look at the picture above, it was taken after just chucking the phone into a puddle. Check out the link below to see if this phone is for you.
We've been waiting for this saw for not quite a year. It's the new lighter, more powerful replacement for the MS441 and MS461 70cc chainsaws. Like our review of the outstanding MS362C-M, this new saw features the auto-adjusting M-Tronic carburetor which adjusts for fuel and air conditions without the need for high, low,
and idle adjustment screws. At 6 hp and only 13 lbs, this saw is sure to become a best seller. Click the link below for more details on this new beauty.
