Hey Guys,
It's another busy week around here. Winter is digging in so we're all scrambling on our respective job sites to finish up what we can before the ground freezes up solid. In Minnesota, we've been dragging concrete blankets for over a month but out on the east coast, they still have pretty good digging. Wherever you're located, get out there and crush it!
For this week we have a couple articles on starting a carpentry (or any trade) business and also streamlining things to make your existing company more profitable. There are also some great tool articles below such as the Dewalt Cutoff Saw and the Milwaukee Rover Pivoting Flood Light (a great stocking stuffer, by the way).
Many of us grew up watching our parents turn a basement or garage into a carpentry workshop, spend countless weekends building furniture, and amaze us with the results. But whether your passion for carpentry started in childhood or later in life, you undoubtedly know the special kind of satisfaction which comes from building something physical in today’s digital world.
But how do you start a business? In this article we outline the 5 steps you need to take to get going. Check it out!

Just about everyone knows that radiant heat can be installed in new construction but did you know you have the ability to add it during a remodel? In this article we'll go through the options available for radiant heat and why one in particular is best suited for remodeling situations.
This year I wanted to concentrate on putting systems in place to increase productivity and profitability. So what did I learn about my company and how did I fix it? Check out the article and see for yourself. I think you can apply these same ideas to your own company as well.
I first laid my eyes on the Dewalt FLEXVOLT 60 V brushless cut-off saw at the 2018 World of Concrete trade show. A year later, I’m still amazed at the innovation of this cordless tool, probably because it’s cordless, and requires NO GAS! Recently I took this saw to my jobsite to test it out. So how did it do? Just about every trade can use a decent, small flood light. What's great about this one from Milwaukee is that it's rechargeable and has a magnetic and pivoting base. That means that you can stick it to any steel found on a job site from corner bead to electrical boxes. It's super handy, compact, and bright. Click the link below to check out our full review.
