Hey Guys,
We're in the home stretch. Next Tuesday is Christmas. If you're still not sure what to get your spouse, you may be down to gift cards as an option. Me, I got lucky and my wife asked for a cutting board in the shape of Minnesota. The picture above is what I glued up yesterday afternoon. Today I'll plane it down quick, and print out the state outline on the printer. A little spray adhesive to attach the template and it should be pretty easy to cut out on the band saw. I'll let you know next
week if it all worked out...
We have some great articles for you this week. First we have one of our ice dam articles. We've sent this one before but want to make sure any new subscribers see it before the snow really starts piling up. Next we have an article on insulating a basement so that you don't end up with a moldy mess. The real meat and potatoes of that articles is a YouTube video near the bottom of it where Todd goes into all the details including half and stub wall combo ares.
In the caboose we have some new product and tool articles. These are all from the last week so if you haven't been to the Tool Box Buzz site in a while, the articles below are fresh.
Another winter is bearing down and if you've had ice dams in the past, now is the time to get up into your attic to fix the issues before it's too late. We'll show you how ice dams form and what you can do to prevent them in the future. If you're new to your home, this article is definitely for you. It will help you catch issues early.
One of the most popular DIY projects today is finishing out a basement. It's a good way to add sweat equity and more space to your current home. The problem is that a lot of people get the insulation details wrong and it isn't long before they have a moldy mess on their hands. In this article we'll show you how to do it right to keep your basement dry and mold free!
With a recent major home renovation and addition, Jeff Deitz decided to integrate a number of smart home products along the way. One of the first additions was the Delaney ZW300 Touchscreen Smart Lock. It works as a stand-alone touchscreen lock with up to 30 unique codes and it is a Z-Wave enabled device. So what does this all mean and why would you want such a fancy device on your own home? Jeff breaks it
all down for you in the article below.
Rob has never been a vest guy. At least not until his wife bought him a shirt and vest combo that she thought would look good on him. Like any good husband, he listened to his wife and wore the vest. He discovered that he really enjoyed the freedom of movement while still keeping his core warm. Now he took the new Milwaukee M12 AXIS heated vest for a spin and he's a convert. Check out the link below to see
why he likes this piece of workwear so much.
Contributing Editor, John Furlong, took the new Ryobi cordless wet/dry vacuum to his commercial job site to see if it could hold it's own. As anyone who's tackled a similar project knows, a bathroom remodel generates a lot of debris, especially one the size of this school bathroom. So how do you think it did? Can a wet/dry vac really be powered by batteries alone? Check out John's review at the link below
and see for yourself!
