  The Anne Report

The Anne Report

Dear ,

We put away our Christmas decorations on Sunday. I used to dread Christmas closure. It seemed like labor, but I noticed how ridiculously easy it was to put everything in boxes and pack them away until next year. I wonder if it just seemed easier because I have fewer things to do this year than normal, or if it seemed easier because I dropped the burden of making the task difficult. Maybe I dropped the dread factor. I dropped a lot of dread this year. I decided not to dread getting surgery. I would think, “Everything is good now. I will wait to worry about this until things are actually bad.” I had this scenario in my head of what I was going to think when they wheeled me to the operating room, but I did not realize the anesthesia was in my IV, and I was already asleep before I had a chance to worry. I was out before I left Jim and the waiting room. I eliminated the dread factor from my surgery. I thought maybe the dread would come when I was in pain, but the pain never got bad enough to dread my movements. It seems that the more we dread things, the harder they become.

Though I may not have completely dropped the dread factor, I have dropped much of it. As I have said before, I developed EZosophy to help me get over my struggle, strife, worry, and emotional pain. I am an advocate for the EZosophy mantra: “Everything can be EZ or at least EZier.” And that’s it for the Anne Report.

A Day of EZ

Saturday the midst-filled air was warm. Rain waited patiently in the clouds above. We have a covered porch, so my lunch and I headed outside to commune with what was left of nature, after the developer stripped the land and sold the timber. I should feel loss, but, instead, I feel what is under all losses and gains. There is a permanent awareness that no one can tamper with. Our back yard is a field of nothing. The grass sleeps until spring. It is barren, but when I look up at flying birds and the expansive, ancient sky, I feel peaceful. I sit on my porch, turn on my audio book, and listen. This one is intriguing. I have listened to books by this author and she is funny. This is one of her first books; it is steamier than her others. While her other books are not so intense, this one practically makes sounds. I laugh at the main character’s thoughts. This is the kind of book I never read in the past. I have always studied, read inspirational things, scampered after all genres of spirituality, but, at some point, I wanted to play. I wanted to experience everything words could do. I wanted to feel the wind when I read, not just ingest more information that could possibly lead to transformation. I wanted to laugh and cry with characters that told my story. I wanted to venture into foreign lands of thought. I wanted the frivolous, and this book was just that.

Years before, I might have felt like this was not the type of journey that a sincere spiritual traveler should undertake, but there I was, watching my innocence bubble through as I belly laughed. I was at peace reading a book interlaced with soft porn and comedy and felt no remorse. I could have done without the long sex scenes, but the book was worth my plowing through some parts. I am of the less-is-more variety when it comes to some things. Yet, in that moment, I did not need to be doing anything better with my time. I was all about eating, listening, and enjoying life. I used to feel that whatever I was doing was never important enough. I always needed to be involved in meaningful activity, but, for now, I was satisfied. To finish off my decadence, I scurried into the house to get a piece of Harry and David fudge. I returned and ate it slowly. I licked the plate and the knife. Yum.

I am about to head back in, but my next-door neighbor comes out his back door and my dog, Lucy, barks. I tell her to be quiet and sit by me. She obeys. My neighbor asked if I like oysters. I affirm my deep love for mollusks, and he gives me a half bushel that are ready to steam. I smile. I wanted oysters for New Year’s but had not made the effort. My resolve for vegan living took another blow. But this is an observation of my diet, not a criticism. I run into the house and excitedly report to Jim. “Come. You won’t believe what just happened.” I lead him to a large bucket and point. “Our neighbor just gave us a half bushel of oysters.” We grin as if we had just won the lottery.

This was an EZosophy day. An EZosophy day is a day of acceptance and non-resistance. It is easier, I admit, when I am not under a deadline, but Saturday was not just a day of leisure. I attended a Zoom lecture in the morning, exercised, meditated, washed two loads of clothes, wrote an article, starred in, and produced a video, cooked dinner, and even more: yet, in the midst of my doing, there was EZ. There was a commitment to self-innocence, with no need to criticize or to improve myself. I just wanted to share my perfect day with you. I want to hold your hand and have a sip of tea and beam. I want us to touch, soul to soul, without doing anything to improve the moment. And since we are not physically together, I want to touch you with my words, just as this crazy romantic comedy writer touched me.

We live in a paradise. It is called life. It is not made from strife and self-improvement. It is made from self-love and radical acceptance. And when we move beneath the veil--the illusion of struggle and strife, we have the courage to love beyond measure. I was born to share that message with myself. I was born to take the primordial shackles off my heart and to sense that which defies the logical mind. This missive is for me, but, if you care to eavesdrop, I would be privileged. Sharing our burdens and our joys creates the power of transcendence, and, as Ram Dass wisely said, “Humanity is a team sport.” Seeing for you, me, and Jimmy Stewart, a wonderful life in 2021, and know that everything can be EZ or at least EZier.

Suppose someone told you that you could change your life radically, for the better, if you spent just three minutes a day doing inner work? Would you believe it? Maybe not, but wouldn't it be worth an investment of three minutes a day to try it?

The Living Book offers just this. Devote three minutes a day to this process and your life will become a living testimony to the seed principle. A tiny seed can grow into a mighty tree, but it must be planted. Plant your daily seed for three short minutes and notice both subtle and miraculous changes in your life. In addition to the daily practice, one can use the process when they are stumped or afraid or angry. This process transforms anger into love. When we plant seeds of light into our thoughts and emotional bodies, we move into higher frequencies of well-being.

The Living Book, by Anne Sermons Gillis. Paperback $4.95 plus $3.00 shipping. PDF Download $0.99. Kindle Book $2.99.

Join Anne’s Facebook Group

This group is a place to post uplifting affirmations and thoughts about prosperity and abundant living. Let’s create a right relationship with money so that we feel comfortable about money. Let’s use money as it’s meant to be used, and not as a way to accumulate power or to fill a void. We don’t need money to buy more stuff. We need it to create a world that works for everyone. We want to cast off old beliefs of lack and reclaim our natural state of abundance. Anne, AKA Dr. Money, posts a nightly goodnight video for the prosperity team, and everyone who watches those videos becomes a part of the prosperity team.
